Mobile Application Developer

Location: Mississauga, ON (Onsite)
Industry: Industrial Manufacturing / Industrial IoT

Compensation: $100,000–$120,000 plus RRSP matching, comprehensive benefits, and a collaborative team environment.

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Mobile Application Developer to design, build, and support mobile applications that connect users to a cloud-based Industrial IoT platform. This role will be responsible for developing high-quality applications across iOS and Android platforms while collaborating with product, firmware, cloud, and QA teams to deliver intuitive, reliable, and scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Mobile Application Development

• Design, develop, and maintain mobile applications for iOS and Android platforms.
• Build cross-platform solutions using React Native and Flutter while supporting native development in Swift and Java/Kotlin.
• Develop reusable UI components and ensure consistency with established design systems.
• Translate wireframes, mockups, and prototypes into polished, responsive mobile experiences.
• Apply platform-specific UI/UX best practices, including iOS Human Interface Guidelines and Android Material Design standards.

Integration & Performance

• Integrate and maintain RESTful APIs, authentication workflows, and data synchronization processes.
• Optimize application performance, responsiveness, memory usage, and startup times.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues across mobile, cloud, and backend environments.
• Support App Store and Google Play Store releases, deployments, and version management.

Quality & Testing

• Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies.
• Participate in code reviews and promote best practices for software quality and maintainability.
• Ensure applications meet security, reliability, and performance standards.

Collaboration & Product Development

• Collaborate with product managers, firmware engineers, cloud developers, QA teams, and customer stakeholders.
• Participate in system design and architecture discussions for cloud-native IoT solutions running on AWS.
• Gather business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Maintain technical documentation for applications, APIs, and development processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, including mobile application development.
• Hands-on experience developing mobile applications using React Native and/or Flutter.
• Experience with native iOS development (Swift) and Android development (Java/Kotlin).
• Experience integrating REST APIs and cloud-based services.
• Strong understanding of mobile application architecture, design patterns, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with UI/UX tools such as Figma and implementing design specifications.
• Experience managing Apple App Store and Google Play Store submission and release processes.
• Web development experience is considered an asset.
• Exposure to AWS cloud services and AWS certifications are considered an asset.
• Experience in industrial manufacturing, Industrial IoT, utilities, or natural gas environments is preferred.
