Job Description

Cyber Security Specialist

  • Location – Parramatta (hybrid)
  • Employment type – Temporary full-time up to 12 months with possibility of extension
  • Grade – Clerk Grade 9/10
  • Salary – $133,348 pa - $146,945 pa plus employers’ contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

As a Cyber Security Specialist, you will play a key role in strengthening Multicultural NSW’s cyber security capability and ensuring technology initiatives align with business priorities. Working across the organisation, you will provide trusted advice on security risks, compliance, and digital solutions, helping to protect information assets while enabling secure, practical, and effective business outcomes.

What you’ll do

Drive secure technology outcomes that support business success.

  • Monitor cyber security risks, threats, and alerts.
  • Coordinate incident response and remediation activities.
  • Maintain security policies, standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Assess security risks and provide practical recommendations.
  • Review vendor solutions and technology initiatives from a security perspective.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand needs and priorities.
  • Provide clear, practical cyber security advice and guidance.
  • Support the delivery of secure digital projects and technology improvements.

What we’re looking for

We're looking for a proactive and collaborative cyber security professional who combines technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in cyber security, information security, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing security risk, compliance, incident response, and cyber security operations.
  • Knowledge of recognised security frameworks, standards, and best practices.
  • Ability to assess risks, prioritise issues, and recommend practical, business-focused solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in plain language.
  • Sound judgement, resilience, and the ability to deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CCSP, GIAC, or ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor are desirable.
