Job Description

A Term Adjunct position is open at the Smith School of Business for an instructor to teach as part of our Master of Management in Artificial Intelligence (MMAI) program. This program is delivered using a HyFlex model, giving students the flexibility to participate either in person or online. Our Toronto classroom is fully equipped to livestream classes and connect remote learners through Zoom, enabling them to engage in discussions, collaborate with classmates, and participate in classroom activities in real time.

The instructor will require knowledge and experience in leveraging technology to support an organization’s marketing initiatives. Understanding data, analytics and the implementation of Artificial Intelligence is required.

Teaching this course includes seven, 4 hour sessions, every Tuesday evening from January 5, 2027 to February 16, 2027 (a total of 28 hours class time). Additional office hours may be held outside of those hours. The successful applicant will be required to teach 100% of one (1) section of MMAI 831 with an anticipated enrollment of approximately 80 students.

The course is described as follows:

Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are transforming modern marketing. This course explores how AI is used in customer acquisition, engagement, and retention, with applications in personalized marketing, content creation, consumer behavior analysis, lead generation, and sales optimization. Students will gain practical experience with key ML methods, including classification, logistic regression, decision trees, neural networks, support vector machines, and non-parametric models, while applying these techniques through hands-on coding in Python using real-world datasets.

Through case studies and applied projects, students will learn to develop data-driven marketing strategies, make informed decisions in areas such as segmentation, targeting, positioning, forecasting, advertising, and resource allocation, and effectively evaluate and justify their recommendations using appropriate metrics. The course emphasizes the integration of AI-driven insights with human creativity and strategic thinking to create competitive business advantage and stronger customer relationships.

Compensation

The salary for a term adjunct teaching one section of a course is $13,856 (excluding vacation pay). This salary is pro-rated based on course credit.

Qualifications

Qualifications include: a Master’s degree or Ph.D., several years of expertise and related professional experience.
