Job Duties:
The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) has extensive knowledge of clinical laboratory science, possesses the skills necessary to perform high complexity testing, and has a broad knowledge and understanding of theory and the clinical relevance of laboratory testing and reporting. The position maintains records of performance and utilizes independent judgment to generate acceptable test results within QC standards, in accordance with relevant local, state, federal rules and regulation, and the requirements of accrediting bodies. The Medical Technologist performs testing according to standard operating procedures.
About the Department:
This hybrid emergency room and urgent care provides both types of care to patients conveniently under one roof. Patients will receive the appropriate level of care in a simple, cost effective one-stop location. The emergency room will provide care on a 24/7 basis with transport services available to handle high-acuity emergency situations needing surgery. Nurses at this location will have a background or training in emergency care. On-site imaging and laboratory services are also available.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a two-year diploma or equivalent in any biological science or chemical science from an accredited/approved educational institution and successful completion of the Medical Laboratory Technology training program which includes Blood Banking (Immunohematology), Chemistry, Hematology, and Microbiology; OR A minimum of a two-year diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology which includes Blood Banking (Immunohematology), Chemistry, Hematology, and Microbiology.
Certification as an MLT by the ASCP or AMT within 6 months of hire.
