MLS / MLT
Performs a variety of routine and/or complex analysis on clinical specimens in all areas of the laboratory.

Responsibilities
Assess and resolve problems. Technical, Instrument Problems, QC, Abnormal findings. Consider alternatives and chooses appropriate course of action., Communicates, when leaving a shift, the status of testing in areas of responsibility., Completes continuing education and professional development within or outside of facility., Documents verbal orders, problems, critical results called and read back on appropriate forms., Maintains equipment to ensure minimal downtime and is responsible for proper handling of equipment and equipment preventive maintenance., Monitors pending collection log., Notes and verifies unusual, abnormal or out-of-range results and promptly notify, physician and/or pathologist as appropriate., Orders lab tests accurately in the computer., Participates in the development of special projects., Performs all testing activity including Hematology; Coagulation, Urinalysis, Blood Bank and Chemistry, using instruments related to that testing. Followsprotocol specified in detailed procedure manuals., Performs review of instrument maintenance and/or quality control data before running patient specimens and documents this review., Performs specimen procurement in a timely manner when needed and demonstrates a complete understanding of specimen procedures: Finger sticks, Heel sticks, Venipuncture, and Arterial puncture., Provides training for staff in department procedures, quality assurance, and instrumentation., Reports test results to authorized personnel.
