Our client is a growing EMI and payment company offering global payment infrastructure. They provide services such as card acquiring and multi-currency processing, supporting seamless cross-border transactions across 135+ countries. Their focus is on maintaining full regulatory compliance, catering to businesses with integrated compliance solutions.
As an MLRO, you will have the opportunity to lead compliance efforts in a fully remote capacity from London. This role is ideal for those looking to make a significant impact in an international fintech environment. You will handle a variety of tasks from risk assessment to compliance vendor management, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
Conduct risk scoring for merchants based on business models, MCC, geography, and volumes.
Manage onboarding cycles according to risk tiers.
Collaborate with compliance vendors, ensuring cross-validation of tool results.
Oversee KYC processes, including document verification and sanctions list checks.
Set up and manage transaction monitoring rules and thresholds.
Develop risk matrices and monitoring processes with regular timelines.
Report SAR/STR and monitor regulatory changes (FCA, FATF, MiCA).
Ensure up-to-date internal policies and procedures through regulatory reporting.
Control cross-departmental regulatory deadlines (e.g., PCI DSS).
Participate in new product launches from a compliance perspective.
Experience in AML and compliance within a licensed payment company: PSP, EMI, acquirer.
Hands-on experience with KYC/KYB, sanctions, PEP, transaction monitoring, SAR, EDD.
Understanding of card schemes and acquiring specifics.
Knowledge of FCA regulations and the UK regulatory environment.
Product-oriented mindset: ability to build and execute processes.
Previously approved by a regulator as an MLRO or Compliance Officer (FCA SMF or equivalent) is a strong advantage.
Experience with high-risk verticals: gambling, forex, travel is a plus.
Relevant certifications: ICA, ACAMS are an advantage.
Languages: English C1

Ability to balance compliance and risk management with business interests.
Effective cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Willingness to relocate to the UK if required for regulatory statements.
