About the Role

As a Mixed Signal Engineer Intern at Analog Devices (ADI), you will contribute to cutting-edge analog and mixed-signal design and automation initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience in circuit design, machine learning applications, and design flow optimization, working closely with experienced engineers in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate machine learning models for analog design automation.

  • Analyze design data, simulation results, and layout metrics to extract insights.

  • Collaborate with design engineers to identify challenges and propose automation strategies.

  • Support tool development and scripting for design flow enhancements.

  • Perform analog and mixed-signal circuit analysis, design, simulation, and verification in advanced CMOS nodes.

  • Optimize physical design in collaboration with layout engineers.

  • Conduct lab evaluation and debug of pipeline ADCs; assist with test equipment setup and maintenance.

  • Document research findings and present progress to the team.

Must Have Skills:

  • Strong foundation in analog circuit design and mixed-signal systems.

  • Experience with Python and machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch).

  • Familiarity with EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso.

  • Exposure to design automation concepts and analog layout-aware design.

  • Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, pandas).

  • Knowledge of ADC architectures, high-speed analog design, clocking, and calibration techniques.

  • Strong communication skills and initiative in exploring interdisciplinary challenges.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate, Masters, or PhD program: in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

  • Coursework in Analog IC Design; familiarity with ADC architectures is a plus.

  • Understanding of transistor-level design and simulation using tools such as Cadence and SPICE.

  • Knowledge of IC physical design and exposure to sub-micron process nodes.

  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as signal generators and spectrum analyzers.
