Job Description

Who we are

Mixed Animal Veterinarian | Columbia, IL | Leadership Opportunity

Mueller Veterinary Services is seeking an experienced Mixed Animal Veterinarian to join our team as a full-time Chief of Staff and help lead our well-established, community-oriented practice in Columbia, Illinois.

This is an exciting opportunity for a veterinarian who enjoys the variety of mixed animal medicine and is ready to take the next step into clinical leadership. Our Chief of Staff will remain actively involved in patient care while partnering with hospital leadership to support our doctors, strengthen medical standards, mentor the veterinary team, and help guide the continued growth of the practice.

Mueller Veterinary Services has proudly served Columbia and the surrounding communities for decades, providing comprehensive care for both companion and large animal patients.

Our Facility & Medicine

Mueller Veterinary Services offers a well-equipped environment for both small and large animal medicine, giving our Chief of Staff the opportunity to maintain a diverse caseload while helping shape the medical direction of the practice.

Our facility and equipment include:

  • Digital radiography and portable X-ray
  • Dental radiography
  • Ultrasound
  • Tono-Pen
  • Equine PowerFloat
  • Therapeutic laser
  • Cryosurgery
  • Haul-in facility with convenient trailer access
  • Fully equipped ambulatory truck for farm calls

Our caseload is approximately 85% small animal and 15% large animal, making this a great opportunity for a veterinarian who enjoys companion animal medicine while still wanting large animal work to remain a meaningful part of their practice.

About the Chief of Staff Role

As Chief of Staff, you'll serve as a clinical leader and resource for our veterinary team while continuing to practice the mixed animal medicine you enjoy. You'll partner closely with hospital leadership to foster a collaborative, supportive environment and help shape the future of Mueller Veterinary Services.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Provide high-quality mixed animal medical and surgical care
  • Mentor and support fellow veterinarians
  • Help establish and maintain strong medical standards and best practices
  • Support doctor development and continuing education
  • Partner with hospital leadership on medical operations and practice growth
  • Strengthen communication and teamwork across the hospital

Prior veterinary leadership experience is preferred, but we're also excited to connect with experienced veterinarians who are ready to take the next step in their leadership career.

What's in it for you

We offer a competitive benefits package designed to support your health, well-being, and long-term success, including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid vacation and sick time
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid CE time + CE allowance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid professional dues and liability coverage
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Employee discounts, rewards, and veterinary service discounts

Ready to Join Our Team?

If you're an experienced mixed animal veterinarian who loves practicing medicine but is also ready to make a broader impact, we'd love to meet you.

Bring your clinical expertise, leadership, and passion for mixed animal medicine to Mueller Veterinary Services and help us build on a practice that has been serving its community for decades.
