We are Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF)! We are an organisation that utilises light aircraft to provide assistance and hope in more than 30 developing nations. For more than 70 years, MAF has been sharing God's love through flying patients, aid workers, goods, and medical supplies to the most isolated and critical areas worldwide – areas where air travel is not a luxury, but a vital necessity.
Since 1951, MAF's unwavering flights over Papua New Guinea have woven a lifeline to some of the world most remote locations amidst treacherous landscapes. With a steadfast commitment to upholding international standards in safety, flight operations, and aircraft maintenance, MAF exemplifies a legacy of aerial guardianship that has been woven into the very fabric of its existence. Through the dedication and expertise, MAF ensures that the remote communities scattered across the rugged terrain of PNG are connected, supported, and empowered by the transformative power of aviation. In every flight taken, every mission fulfilled, and every life touched, MAF continues to write a story of hope, compassion, and unwavering service to those in need.
The essence of MAF International's Mission Experience Placement initiative lies in offering aspiring missionaries a glimpse into life within foreign mission settings, beckoning them to discern a divine calling toward enduring Christian service.
Navigating through the sky's with our fleet, we transcend geographical barriers that obscure vital services from the remote parts of Papua New Guinea — be it health-care, education, potable water, or the Gospel itself. Our wings serve as conduits, linking local communities, church congregations, missionaries, NGOs, relief agencies, and governmental bodies in a shared quest to transform the fortunes of those dwelling in remote hinterlands.
Within the tapestry of our mission placements lie myriad opportunities for individuals to glean firsthand experiences. Beyond acquainting you with MAF's mission and the rhythms of program life, these roles offer invaluable insights and hands-on assignments to fortify your journey toward a vocation in missions.
Prospective candidates with a passion and proficiency in the following fields are encouraged to apply:

Candidates need to be at least 18 years old to be eligible for the PNG Occupational Training Visa. In addition to meeting the age requirement, applicants must also be currently enrolled in a university or college. It is important to note that candidates should be willing to take a gap break from their studies, as this is a specific requirement for the visa. This break can provide valuable opportunities for personal growth, cultural exchange, and hands-on learning experiences that can greatly benefit individuals in their future academic and professional endeavors.

Mission Aviation Fellowship was founded in 1945 by a group of WWII pilots who had a vision for how aviation could be used to help spread the Gospel.
Since those early days, we have been an indispensable partner and servant to some 500 Christian organizations, humanitarian agencies, and more. We enable and maximize evangelism and church nurturing, medical assistance, disaster response, and community development, as well as the training and development of indigenous people.
Using aviation, we desire to see isolated people changed by the love of Christ by serving together to bring help, hope, and healing. We meet the physical and spiritual needs of isolated people in 42 countries throughout Asia, Africa, Eurasia and Latin America, operating a fleet of 47 light aircraft. Dedicated missionary families raise their own ministry support to serve as the hands and feet of Christ to those in need.
