Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mission Assurance Manager 1, Nondestructive Inspection (NDI) to join our team in Iuka, MS for a classified program. The Mission Assurance Manager will manage the Northrop Grumman NDI team and lead all Mission Assurance efforts related to Nondestructive Inspection on the program. Our Team in Iuka, MS is Customer focused, process driven, and dedicated to continuous improvement.

This position is responsible for the direct supervision/management of the Nondestructive Inspection team at our Iuka, MS site. This includes managing non-exempt technicians working a classified program and will be responsible for the combined strategic (long-term) and tactical (short-term) management planning activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Has overall responsibility for execution of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives, along with employee engagement for the Nondestructive Inspection team within the FCC site

  • Strong focus on safe work environment, Zero Defects, and continuous improvement activities

  • Manages both the strategic and short-term tactical activities of the work area

  • Optimizes inspection flow and production rates to meet customer demands, improve inventory turns and drive month over month cost improvement

  • Responsible for proactive resource management to mitigate production schedule risks

  • Support a work environment characterized by employee involvement and participative management to encourage the highest level of employee commitment and cooperation

  • Manage inspection team staffing levels to support customer requirements while maintaining efficient operations

Basic Qualifications:

High school Diploma/GED with at least 5 years manufacturing experience in Ultrasonic testing

At least one year supervisory/leadership experience

Currently or previously certified to Level 2 per NAS410 in Ultrasonics (certification will be verified)

Must meet all requirements per NAS410 to obtain Level 3 Certification in Ultrasonics

Active US Govt Clearance (secret or higher)

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs

Must have technical and in-depth knowledge of Nondestructive Testing applications/methods and Mission Assurance (MA) functions

Demonstrated success managing and developing employees technical skills

Proven leadership experience with mid to high rate production programs

Strong working knowledge of composites manufacturing and inspection processes

Demonstrated consistent use of the following competencies: Business acumen, composure, delegating, interpersonal savvy, planning, time management, timely decision making, presentation skills

Demonstrated success in leading teams to consistently meet customer expectations

Demonstrated commitment to creating and maintaining a safe work environment

Understanding and use of root cause analysis

Demonstrated success in maximizing resources and throughput

Demonstrated ability to remove waste from inspection processes

Demonstrated strong technical skills related to Ultrasonic inspection of composite materials

Preferred Qualifications:

Aerospace or aviation experience strongly desired

Advanced computer skills and working knowledge of shop floor applications (Solumina/MES), ATKOO system application software and UT+ Studio application software

Must have the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control NDT method(s)

Familiarity with AS9100, NADCAP, and other Quality / NDI auditing / accreditation systems strongly preferred

Experience with Automated Ultrasonic Systems strongly desired.

Experience with Multiple brands of Flaw detectors strongly desired.

Positive attitude and ambition to excel / advance in skills and knowledge

Attention to detail and an ability to produce error-free products and accurately complete paperwork

History of working effectively with coworkers, managers, and other employees in a team environment

Strong technical skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, as a team leader and member

Strong commitment to continuous improvement; ability to proactively network and establish effective working relationships, must pursue cost-containment efforts related to inspection processes

Conflict management skills and negotiation skills

Primary Level Salary Range: $99,000.00 - $148,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
