Purpose of Role:Weir Marine Engineering is currently looking for a Missile Systems Analyst with current or former experience in naval warfare.The missile systems analyst performs many duties at NETE, including flight modeling and simulation, support to system design and software algorithms, support to waterfront and at-sea system integration testing, development of analysis toolsets, analysis and reporting on performance of naval missile and support systems used by the Royal Canadian Navy.This permanent position based in Halifax, NS provides a range of Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) services including liaison with ongoing naval projects and equipment managers, initiating and undertaking at-sea tests, conducting technical investigations and validating system performance / tactics effectiveness all leading to the introduction of the River Class Destroyer (RCD).Sound organizational knowledge and previous work experience with the Royal Canadian Navy is desirable as the work requires a collaborative approach with numerous stakeholders within RCN lines, more specifically in the Naval Force Development field. This position includes a combination of office (mostly) and alongside shipboard (sometimes) environments with occasional requirements to perform work outside and possible short duration travel to other test locations ashore.

  • Figuring missile engagement envelopes and edge-case performance.

  • Monitoring the performance of naval missiles and suggest improvements throughout equipment lifecycles.

Must-haves:

  • Security: Must obtain a Government of Canada security clearance, which necessitates Canadian citizenship and a minimum of 10 years of continuous residence in Canada.

  • Education: Master’s degree of engineering or science, ideally in a subject such as aerodynamic, missile guidance, or guided weapon systems.

  • Experience: at least two years of missile analysis experience.

  • Skills: The applicant must be conversant with large data manipulation, software programming, and familiar with combat systems integration.

  • Desirable: The applicant should be efficient working without close supervision, be a team player and be proficient in troubleshooting.
