Job Description

Leidos Defense Mechanical Design & Analysis Department is seeking a Missile Launcher Product Team Lead to join our team in Huntsville Alabama designing the next generation of air defense launchers to protect America and its allies. As the Launcher Hardware Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, you will lead the Launcher Hardware Team for the U.S. Army’s Indirect Fire Protection Capability (IFPC Inc 2) weapon system. This position offers the opportunity to work on a multi billion-dollar program, driving technical excellence, cost, schedule, and risk management for a critical defense system.

THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)

  • Integrated Product Team Leadership:

  • Own overall execution performance for the Launcher Hardware IPT scope.

  • Lead cost, schedule, and technical performance alignment for the hardware team.

  • Ensure program commitments are executable and aligned to baseline objectives.

  • Technical Oversight:

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver on program objectives.

  • Partner with subsystem leads and engineering teams to ensure technical alignment supports program goals.

  • Drive disciplined execution and proactive risk management across the IPT.

  • Risk and Opportunity Management:

  • Identify, assess, and manage IPT risks and opportunities.

  • Develop and implement mitigation plans to address risks and capitalize on opportunities.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Provide clear and concise status communication to leadership and stakeholders.

  • Represent the IPT in governance forums and lead design reviews.

  • Maintain compliance with contractual requirements and internal governance standards.

  • Execution Excellence:

  • Identify and monitor health indicators and implement corrective actions as required.

  • Drive issue resolution across functional boundaries to ensure program success.

  • Promote a culture focused on outcomes, execution discipline, and continuous improvement.

WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or Systems Engineering from an ABET-accredited university

  • 12+ years of applicable experience or 10+ years experience with a MS degree

  • Experience leading program or project execution in a complex defense or aerospace environment.

  • Demonstrated experience managing cost, schedule, and performance for large-scale programs.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams within a matrixed organization.

  • Strong communication and briefing skills for leadership and customer audiences.

  • Active Secret clearance required at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IFPC Inc 2 or similar defense systems.

  • Experience in a manufacturing production-based program.

  • Experience managing efforts within an Earned Value Management (EVM) environment, including the application of EVM principles to track cost, schedule, and performance effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage customer-facing interactions effectively.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00
