Waste Control, a Waste Connections company, is hiring a Missed Garbage Route Driver to join the team in Longview, Washington! This route varies from day to day. Missed pick-up drivers are dispatched out to customer accounts that have been missed by a Garbage Truck Driver, to service containers. This position also delivers new customer containers/carts and performs minor repairs on containers.

Schedule: Monday – Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm with Occasional Overtime.

Rate of pay is $22.98/HR

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver, place, remove, and exchange containers at customer locations safely and efficiently

• Perform minor container repairs and report maintenance issues as needed

• Ensure proper placement and securement of containers to meet safety and customer requirements

• Ability to read route sheets or tablet and service each customer assigned by the dispatcher

• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections (fluids, safety equipment, lights, tire pressure)

• Operate hydraulic hand controls

• Provide courteous, professional interaction with customers

Requirements:

• Ability to work a physically demanding job.; Loading and unloading.

• Willingness to submit to and pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening test

• Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports to complete daily assignments

• Valid Driver’s license required

• Clean Motor Vehicle Report

• Minimum 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

• Working knowledge of D.O.T. laws

• Safety Sensitive: YES

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

• Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required objects over 50 pounds.

• Automatic Side Load Truck

• Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts. Which requires following basic safety precautions.

• The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
