The Miss Pascua Yaqui Pageant Coordinator coordinates the Miss Pascua Yaqui Pageant and Junior Miss Pascua Yaqui Pageant. Incumbent will act as a mentor for the contestants and Miss Pascua Yaqui Royalty and will advise the contestants and Miss Pascua Yaqui Royalty of cultural and traditional studies.

Examples of duties

  1. Plan and organize the Annual Miss Pascua Yaqui Pageant.
  2. Plan and organize recruitment of young ladies to participate in MPY Sponsored events.
  3. Create weekly, monthly, and yearly schedule of events for Miss Pascua Yaqui Program.
  4. Develop short and long-term plans for the MPY Service to the community.
  5. Plan and organize trainings for MPY Titleholders, which include Language and Culture, public speaking skills, organization, and etiquette.
  6. Chaperone MPY Titleholder at public appearances.
  7. Management of MPY Social Media sites.
  8. Plan and organize travel request and necessary documentation for travel.
  9. Document and provide monthly reports of MPY Program.
  10. Collect and organize necessary documentation from MPY Titleholders as prescribed MPY Program.
  11. Meet with MPY on a weekly basis to provide assistance and resources for titleholder to be successful in her education and life goals.
  12. Assist in the financial management of Funds allocated to MPY Program.
  13. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as requested by supervisor or director.

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

  • Recordkeeping principles;
  • Applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations;
  • Yaqui culture, history, language, traditions and community resources with a willingness to continue learning.
  • Yaqui culture, customs, resources and traditions and/or a willingness to learn.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
  • Provide Excellent organizational skills and customer service;
  • Must work well with others;
  • Coordinate community activities;
  • Handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Interact and maintain effective working relationship with employees the public and outside public agencies;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interactions with co-workers, supervisor, management, Council members and the general public;
  • Ability to sufficiently exchange or convey information and receive verbal and written work instructions;
  • Operate a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software applications;

Supplemental information

High School Diploma and three (3) years of experience in the field of program implementation experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

AND
  • Trilingual English/Spanish/Hiaki preferred.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be a female enrolled member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe;
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License;
  • This position will require the incumbent to work non-traditional hours, nights, and weekends;
  • Must have a current Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card or be able to obtain the Level 1 Arizona Clearance Card within ninety (90) days of hire. Failure to maintain a current Level 1 Clearance Card will result in termination.
