Mining Manager, Kolwezi, DRC – M/F

Context:

Gladys Synergies is recruiting on behalf of an international mining company developing a copper mining project in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

As the project moves into the mining phase, the company is building a strong technical team to oversee mining contractors and ensure safe, efficient and disciplined production. The Mining Manager will play a key role in translating mine plans into operational results and ensuring that contractors deliver against agreed targets.

Missions & Responsibilities:

• Lead mine planning and production control, from rolling monthly and weekly plans through to daily production targets.
• Oversee drilling, blasting, loading, haulage, stripping, ore movement, stockpiles, roads and dewatering activities.
• Manage and monitor mining contractors, setting clear production targets and ensuring performance, cost and safety standards are met.
• Reconcile planned versus actual production, grades, equipment performance and operating costs, taking corrective action where required.
• Coordinate closely with geology, survey, processing and other technical functions to optimise ore recovery, dilution control and plant feed.
• Lead operational readiness and recovery plans while maintaining high HSE and reporting standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
• Minimum 10 years of open-pit mining experience, including at least 5 years in a senior production or mine management position.
• Proven experience in copper mining is essential, ideally combined with contractor-operated and mechanised load-and-haul operations.
• Strong capabilities in mine planning, production control, contractor management and cost management, with proficiency in recognised mine planning software.
• Previous experience in DRC, the Copperbelt or other frontier African mining environments is strongly preferred.
• Fluent English is required; French is an advantage.
• Demonstrated autonomy, ownership and sound judgement, with the ability to operate effectively in a demanding remote-site environment.
