Albemarle is hiring for a Mining Engineer. This position is in-office and located in Perth, Western Australia.

What You Will Do

  • Lead by example in embedding Albemarle’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Community standards across all Joint Venture interactions, setting clear expectations and reinforcing disciplined execution.

  • Champion Albemarle’s Core Values, fostering a high‑performance, values‑led culture within Joint Ventures and across internal stakeholder groups.

  • Provide mining operational and technical review to Albemarle’s joint venture operational budget, and long range plan through our Australia Joint Venture workflow.

  • Validate the operator’s mine production budget, forecast and long-term plans to ensure Albemarle’s long- term interest and value is maintained.

  • Present findings of the technical work undertaken to demonstrate potential value uplift or erosion that comes out of the work, with consideration of risks and opportunities that are associated with the technical output.

  • Apply the basic mining engineering principles to quality risks and opportunities to our joint venture operations, ensuring risks are minimized, and opportunities are taken as practicable.

  • Attend workstream or subcommittee meetings, as required whilst ensuring Albemarle’s best interests are represented.

  • Keep Mining Manager (Australian Joint Venture Albemarle) and the internal Albemarle team, well informed on progress and feedback from the JV sub-committee workstreams where applicable.

What You Bring

Required:

  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent

  • 5–7 years’ experience in the mining industry, with predominantly hard rock metalliferous open pit exposure

  • Minimum 2 years’ operational, site-based experience (e.g. production planning)

  • Demonstrated experience with mine planning CAD and open pit scheduling software

  • Experience in mine planning, including exposure to budgeting and/or long-term planning

  • Proven ability to proactively source and validate data required to deliver outcomes

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Preferred:

  • Self-directed approach to developing technical capability required for the role

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

  • Exposure to mine technical functions at a corporate level

  • Understanding of public reporting requirements, including Mineral Resources and Reserves (SEC) and Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves (JORC)
