Make your mark while you grow your career! Are you passionate about Engineering in a world class mining facility? We are currently looking for a Mining Engineer to join the Albian Tailings Engineering team. In this role, you will be given the opportunity to showcase your expertise by supporting the evaluation, development, and execution of mine and tailings plans through collaboration with Canadian Natural Tailings Operations, Process Engineering, Maintenance and Mine Technical Services groups.

  • Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta – Albian Oil Sands
  • Shift schedule: 4 x 3, 10-hour shifts (Monday - Thursday)
  • Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and maintain tailings plans and schedules, evaluating performance to identify gaps and risks, and providing timely, practical recommendations to support decision-making and plan adjustments
  • Collaborate with Tailings Operations, Mine Planning, Geotechnical, and Process teams to integrate constraints, optimize plans, and ensure alignment across disciplines
  • Monitor tailings water quality and system trends, developing daily and near-term plans that maximize recycle water use in the plant while minimizing reliance on environmental water inputs
  • Translate technical data and model outputs into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders, supporting effective communication of plans, risks, and changes
  • Support regulatory and internal stewardship requirements by ensuring plans are consistent with approvals, commitments, and operating envelopes
  • Participate in field walkdowns and analyze as-built and operating data to validate assumptions, resolve discrepancies, and improve plan accuracy
  • Identify and support development of improvement opportunities and projects, including scope definition and input into short- and mid-range planning horizons

What You Bring to the Role:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering
  • Registered with APEGA, or eligible to register
  • Previous experience in oil sands mining preferred
  • Experience with tailings planning software; Maptek Vulcan, and Minebridge Muk3D
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent
