TITLE: Quality Manager
POSITION OBJECTIVE: The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring the timely and effective implementation of all company policies, procedures, and activities involved in assuring the quality of manufactured products. He/she maintains close working relationships with other department managers and supervisory personnel to meet and maintain product quality, identify, solve, and prevent problems affecting product quality, maximize productivity, and comply with regulatory requirements. This position reports directly to the General Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 5 years in food safety/quality in a manufacturing or packaging environment. Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
• SQF Practitioner (SQFI) certification, HACCP certification, and Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) preferred.
• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
• Strong knowledge of SQF Code, HACCP, GMPs, FSMA, and food safety regulations; excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Experience working with national brand retailers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management software.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
• Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate nonstandard work hours as necessary.
• Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interaction
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF system, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety plans, and corrective action programs.
• Conduct internal and external SQF audits, HACCP assessments, and regulatory inspections; ensure adherence to SQF, HACCP, Food Defense, and FSMA requirements.
• Manage quality control processes, investigate non-conformances, and lead product recalls when necessary.
• employees on SQF, HACCP, and food safety procedures; lead crisis management and food fraud prevention initiatives.
• Apply problem-solving methodologies (e.g., DMAIC Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen) to identify and resolve quality issues; drive continual improvement in production and quality operations.
• Maintain accurate SQF system documentation, audit logs, corrective action records, and customer complaint logs.
• Work with operations, production, HR, and maintenance teams to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
• Ensure client-specific certifications are maintained in alignment with SQF and customer requirements.
• Verification and validation activities (SQF Code)
• Creating purchase orders for compliance activities
• Employee performance appraisals
• Employee disciplinary and attendance issues
• Managing global partnership adherence to specifications
• All other duties as assigned.
