Caterpillar are expanding and have multiple opportunities for individuals seeking a new challenge in the mining industry. The Caterpillar Autonomous Onboard Specialist is a mine site-based role where you can work hand in hand with our customers.
Our Onboard Specialists play a key role in ensuring the Command for Hauling equipment and system is working at its optimum performance, using your specialist knowledge and experience. You will focus on supporting the Minestar hardware on the customer’s fleet, with a focus on optimising system availability. You will partner with our Application Specialists who focus on the software to ensure the customer is operating at maximum performance. You will troubleshoot issues in the field, and work with key Caterpillar teams such as commercial, product support and engineering to identify, document and provide solutions for ongoing product improvements.
This role would suit someone with strong mechanical or electrical experience who is looking to balance that knowledge with some computer-based analysis. This job is not your traditional “on the tools” job but will involve some hands-on work. Ensuring the Command for hauling Equipment is configured, maintained and operated to Caterpillar specifications and best practice, coaching and mentoring of customer personnel on interaction and operation of the Command for Hauling equipment and system are also key aspects of the role. Full product training will be provided as part of your on boarding process, including our on-board networks/machine control systems and how to troubleshoot them.

What you will do:
As part of our on-boarding program you will go through a robust training program where you will learn all aspects of system operation, troubleshooting and application of autonomy to a mining environment. Once you complete this training program you will be well positioned to support our customers in optimizing system performance.
Once you complete your training program, your job duties may include (among others);
• Implement and Support MineStar® Command for hauling operation and maximizing system performance.
• Becoming a trusted advisor for the client, with key knowledge in the system, in addition, through close internal and external collaboration, supporting the operation of autonomous trucks.
• Manage machine and system integration
• Provide technical support to the supervisors and maintenance technicians of the components on board the MineStar®Command for hauling system.
• Support the installation and configuration of hardware and software by establishing Quality Assurance and Control processes.
Identify field issues, troubleshoot and then track progress.
• Analyze data relating to Autonomous and base machine faults, including regular evaluation of the data accuracy and integrity of the system
• Report on the working status of hardware and software of the Autonomous system to Engineering
• Support in the development of training material and the definition of operational processes.

Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic Engineering or a related engineering degree.
Experience within Mining Industry or/and Mining Technology. Working background in maintenance, or asset reliability.
Knowledge in data analytics and reporting, off-board communications and mechanical / electrical drive mining trucks.
Intermedia English
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
+2 years experience with CAT Products, Machines, Mining technology and onboard equipment troubleshooting
Additional Information:
This position is based at a mine site and follows a rotating roster schedule.
