Collinsville Open Cut is located approximately 160km from Airlie Beach in Queensland, a town known as the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. Producing both metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market, the surface mine has a long life and is transitioning from a dragline strip to a truck and shovel terrace operation.
Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing coal quality, including the reconciliation of coal quality and tonnage, as well as coordinating daily mine and stockpile planning. Working closely with the Mining Operations, Logistics, CHPP, and Mine Planning teams, you will help optimise coal quality, ensure accurate production reconciliation, and support efficient operational planning.
Additionally, your duties will include Geotechnical hazard monitoring and high wall mapping, along with involvement in short term modelling updates.
About You:
A tertiary level qualification in Geology or related discipline.
Proficiency in geological modelling software.
Demonstrated experience in open-cut coal mining (essential).
Experience using slope stability monitoring radar systems.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
A proven commitment to safety, with the ability to demonstrate leadership in promoting safe work practices.
A proactive mindset and a genuine passion for continuous improvement.
