Millwright Foreman

The Millwright Foreman will be responsible for preserving the good condition of infrastructure and ensuring the facility is safe and well-functioning as well as coordinating construction activities & renovation projects and the implementation of new equipment. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws while providing direction, coordination, and evaluation of millwrights and maintenance crews. Lead and train the maintenance team to identify facility improvements, mitigate downtime events, provide solutions, work safely, and collaborate with the operations team to increase productivity and reliability. Coordinate and plan facility improvements, repairs, and assist in the development, and administration of the maintenance budget by allocating and directing maintenance labor and resources.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of crews, crew leaders and maintenance efforts that drive improvement in all associated work processes affecting EHS, compliance, reliability, quality, production, and cost.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Develop and lead a comprehensive preventative maintenance regiment across the facility.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and equipment; Ensure Mechanical Technicians follow predetermined checklist in performance of preventative maintenance of facility mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Direct the replacement of worn, damaged, or failed equipment and components in support of facility operations.
  • Assign work orders and daily work assignments to millwrights and other maintenance technicians.
  • Lead and implement the safety training programs to comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMP’s), Workplace Inspections, Task Observations and Training Programs; address safety concerns, assist in training and support safety initiatives.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures in all work activities and lead by example.
  • Ensure that as found equipment is communicated back to the mechanical supervisor.
  • Utilize and coach directs in Lazer Alignments and other aligning tools.
  • Troubleshoot and install mechanical seals.
  • Plan and prioritize maintenance tasks to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Direct the maintenance, repair, and or replacement of pumps and gears, direct emergency repairs to equipment, and components.
  • Support the production processes to align and optimize the manufacturing enterprise in delivering value to the business.
  • Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly unit using hand tools and power tools, Shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels to specified items.
  • Lead improvement efforts in Reliability, Predictive and Preventative maintenance.
  • Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts using hand tools and measuring instruments to set specific clearances between moving and stationary parts.
  • Test all installed machinery and equipment and make all necessary adjustments and or repairs, when required.
  • Assemble and install equipment such as shafting; align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, micrometers, dial indicators, laser, and or plumb bobs. Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Assemble machines and attach them to foundations or other structures according to project specifications.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, hydraulics, or other mechanical systems.
  • Must be willing to respond to after hour calls from the site.
  • Willingness to come to the site in the event of an unplanned or emergent need.
  • Develop and maintain a callout list of certified technicians.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work may be performed in industrial and construction environments with exposure to weather conditions, temperature extremes, noise, dust, fumes, moving equipment, vibration, and other site-specific hazards. Employees must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and meet all customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements applicable to the position.

Must be able to perform all job duties while maintaining a constant commitment to safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
