Job Title: Millwright

Reporting directly to Skeena’s Mobile Maintenance Superintendent, the Millwright is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heavy machinery and mechanical equipment used in production and industrial operations. Ideal candidates have strong mechanical aptitude and a safety-first mindset. You’ll use your core millwright skills to support dependable equipment performance and minimize downtime.



Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Install, align, and dismantle industrial machinery and mechanical equipment

  • Inspect and troubleshoot machines, including pumps, crushers, conveyors, compressors, and turbines

  • Perform regular preventive maintenance to minimize machine downtime and adjust equipment to ensure reliable operation

  • Perform safe and efficient maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of crushing equipment to support the Eskay Creek Mine

  • Read and interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and manuals to determine work procedures and diagnose mechanical issues

  • Operate hoists, cranes, and hand tools to move and adjust equipment

  • Weld, fabricate, and assemble components when needed

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, report and log equipment concerns, and communicate effectively with operations and maintenance teams.

  • Comply with all safety regulations and OSHA standards

  • Additional duties as reasonably assigned.

The Ideal Candidate

Required Qualifications:

  • Red Seal Journeyperson certification

  • Demonstrated experience with crushers (Jaw and HP series Cones), screen decks, conveyors and stackers in an industrial or open pit mining environment.

Experience / Skills

  • 5 years experience in mining or aggregate crusher equipment
  • Excellent mechanical skills and hands-on troubleshooting ability

  • Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems

  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings

  • Line boring experience would be an asset.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating closely with site operations and maintenance crews.

  • Familiarity with welding, rigging, and machine alignment

  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity

  • Comfortable working in industrial or high-noise environments

  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work at heights or in confined spaces

  • Teamwork and communication skills

Work Location & Conditions

This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.   Daily work schedules will vary depending on avalanche risk and operational objectives Flexibility to extend into evening operations is required for this role.

The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena’s Travel Policy.    

There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.      

Compensation
The expected hourly rate for this position is CAD 57 in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines, and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined by a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
