Description

Responsible for performing major repair activities for MKC locations. This position will report to the Millwright Foreman. This position will inform the location manager at the location he is working of equipment needs. The location manager will bill each location or department for the work they complete.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Current operational knowledge of grain elevator equipment.
2. Current operational knowledge of petroleum equipment.
3. Current operational knowledge of fertilizer and chemical application and storage equipment.
4. Current operational knowledge of the properties, uses, and equipment involved with electrical systems.
5. Ability to diagnose mechanical problems on equipment.
6. Ability to perform repairs on mechanical equipment.
7. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
8. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical and diagram form.
9. Ability to operate a bobcat and a forklift.
10. Computer and data entry skills.
11. Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to taste or smell. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Eye protection is required in restricted areas. Appropriate personal protective equipment (i.e. goggles, gloves, long sleeve shirt, and/or face mask) required when handling chemicals.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

An associate’s degree from a two year college or technical school and 5 years experience in maintenance and electrical work or a high school degree or GED with at least 10 years of experience in maintenance and electrical work.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Diagnose problems and complete repairs on elevator equipment, petroleum equipment, fertilizer and chemical distribution and storage equipment.
2. Diagnose electrical problems and repair if qualified. If not qualified, notify Millwright Foremen for assistance.
3. Communicate to Millwright Foremen daily on status of projects and planning for next day.
4. Complete billing to each location or department for work completed.
5. Observe OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations and the company’s safety policies. Follow contractor’s safety procedures and sign in at each location whiles conducting repairs.
6. Maintain a positive attitude that promotes team work within the cooperative and a favorable image of the cooperative. Cooperate with the managers and employees at each location when conducting repairs.
7. Attend maintenance training classes, safety training classes, and cooperative meetings and work to improve personal skills and knowledge.
8. Maintain all company equipment in your possession in good working order. Schedule maintenance on your company vehicle when necessary.
9. Complete other projects as assigned by your manager

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Job involves work inside a climate-controlled office atmosphere and outside in extreme heat and extreme cold weather and in wet or humid conditions. Job involves much lifting, stooping, standing, and climbing on ladders, risk of electrical shock, exposure to moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, high precarious places, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
