Our Georgia-Pacific Gypsum Plant in Newington is expanding and creating a new opportunity for a MILL SUPERVISOR. This position will provide an opportunity for an individual to utilize their leadership, project management, long-term planning, and coordination skills.

What You Will Do in Your Role

· Supervise eight hourly employees operating mill conveying, calcining, and rock handling equipment, including operation of bucket wheel loader and other smaller mobile equipment to support safe mill operations.

· Apply Principled Based Management and supervisor expectations to create an environment where team members understand priorities, work safely, communicate effectively and receive timely feedback.

· Supervise Mill Operations, ensuring safety, quality, production priorities are established and met.

· Coach and mentor direct reports in disciplined execution of Mill operations, equipment care, and department upkeep.

· Coordinate with site leadership, maintenance, quality, reliability, and operators to meet Mill production needs, plan startup/shutdown activities, and execute runtime, down day, and outage work.

· Oversee daily Mill operations, including rock & stucco production, FGD support, recycle operations, knife pit condition, and overall equipment readiness.

· Work closely with site’s project manager to develop and carry out objectives, solve problems, and respond to short-term as well as long term operational and project goals.

· Ensure operators follow SOPs, APMs, LTV procedures, environmental requirements, and reporting expectations for deficiencies, incidents, compliance concerns, and MOE work orders.

· Use stucco quality samples, Mill testing, operating data, and inspections to identify variation, close gaps, escalate concerns, and drive corrective action.

· Develop and revise standard process procedures, housekeeping strategies, and training plans for Mill operators.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

· Two (2) or more years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment

·One (1) or more years of leadership experience.

· Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

· Availability to be on-call for issue resolution.


What Will Put You Ahead

· Two (2) or more years of leadership experience in the gypsum industry

· Experience coaching and developing hourly employees, providing direct feedback and accountability, and using performance measures to improve talent, safety, quality, reliability, and production results.

· Experience applying Principled Based Management, RR&Es development, applications in comparative advantage, and operator development practices in a manufacturing or gypsum operations environment.
