Brightpoint Community College invites highly motivated individuals to apply to the Military and Veterans Education Counselor ( MVEC) position.

As part of the Military and Veterans Education team, the MVEC will:
  • Collaborate with multiple offices to ensure a smooth matriculation process for all students using military and/or veteran benefits
  • Assist students and their families in obtaining all appropriate military benefits
  • Receive request for certifications, process requests within the established timeframe, document all transactions, upload documents in the document imaging system
  • Conduct internal audits every semester
  • Assist in the resolution of VA education benefit payment discrepancies and provide academic advising services as necessary
  • Participate in outreach events
  • Answer phone calls and emails daily

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.


KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Must possess the ability to provide service to a diverse population of customers.
  • Must possess ability to maintain confidentiality while working with highly sensitive information.
  • Must be able to prioritize work and be able to meet defined deadlines.
  • Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, occasional weekends and teleworking if required.
  • Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check will be required.

Additional Considerations
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Proficiency in the use of PeopleSoft, EAB, Microsoft Office, Teams and Google suite.
Prior experience at a college or university is preferred.
