Live-in staff providing residential management, skills building, and generalized support for 18 to 21-year-old residents, with a history of homelessness, at the Milestone homes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Two (2) years of full-time experience working with young adults from homeless, foster care or traumatized populations in either a paid or volunteer status, lived experience within a transitional living program, OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Must possess or be able to obtain a Utah driver’s license and auto insurance at time of employment. Must be able to access transportation to perform job duties in the community, within a reasonable time frame.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continiuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

May be subject to post accident and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads and advises residents and models positive adult behavior in a shared living space. Behaves in a professional and positive manner and encourages residents to avoid negative language. Provides an ongoing structured, stable, and interactive environment.
  • Serves as a contact between four primary stakeholders: Salt Lake County Youth Services, the young adult participants, the property management of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (GSLC), Housing Authority and community providers/volunteers.
  • Orients participants to program expectations, participates with participants in recreational and educational activities and provides general information as necessary.
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures, maintains Pledge of Confidentiality, and adheres to Providers Code of Conduct. Encourages residents to adhere to the Respect Code, project expectations, and house policies.
  • Monitors participants; supervises biweekly chores; and assists with daily living and hygiene needs.
  • Addresses participant’s daily physical and emotional needs. Be present, visible and available to talk to residents as needed.
  • Redirects and refers participant’s disputes by stabilizing situations and contacts the case manager for further conflict resolution.
  • Provides a safe, clean, and fair environment by engaging and monitoring participants to promote cooperation and compliance.
  • Ensures the interior and exterior of the houses and grounds are neat and clean. Refers maintenance concerns to the Program Manager.
  • Understands emergency plans and ensures resident safety; intervenes in situations that threaten the residents or the house.
  • Leads/facilitates weekly house meetings.
  • Attends orientation training and on-going training as required.
  • Complete case notes weekly including all pertinent information in participant’s records as per agency policy.
  • Provides transportation to participants to various locations in the community to assist in their service and treatment needs and return home arrangements.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position will live and/or work on-site at the Milestone House while employed in the position.

Medium strength rating. Must be able to lift 20 to 50 pounds occasionally.
