Job Description

The I-ERP initiative is transforming Finance and Purchasing operations to improve efficiency, reduce material costs, and enable real-time decision-making using industry-leading practices.

As part of this transformation, the DYNAMO project is replacing the legacy VI&D mainframe-based solution with a modern SAP platform. DYNAMO focuses on modernizing invoicing, implementing invoice-related pricing rules, improving the dealer experience, and enabling real-time business operations.

The Middleware Technical Product Manager will own the technical design and delivery of middleware capabilities supporting DYNAMO. You will work across legacy platforms, GCP middleware services, and SAP S/4HANA and partner closely with SAP, architecture, product, business, and engineering teams.

You will also provide technical oversight for supplier engineering teams and ensure solutions meet established requirements for security, scalability, reliability, testing, deployment, and operational readiness.

Responsibilities

Lead Middleware Delivery and Supplier Engineering

  • Lead the delivery of production-grade Java and Spring Boot microservices deployed on GCP Cloud Run.
  • Provide technical direction and oversight to supplier engineering teams throughout design, development, testing, deployment, and transition to operations.
  • Review and approve technical specifications, application builds, test results, deployment plans, operational documentation, and knowledge-transfer deliverables.
  • Ensure solutions meet defined acceptance criteria and standards for scalability, resilience, maintainability, performance, and security.

Own Technical Design

  • Architect middleware interfaces connecting legacy platforms, cloud services, and SAP S/4HANA.
  • Define API contracts, synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns, data-transformation logic, and validation rules.
  • Make and document key technical design decisions in partnership with enterprise and solution architects.

Develop Cloud-Native Applications

  • Design and develop robust, scalable middleware applications using Java, Spring Boot, and related technologies.
  • Build cloud-native REST APIs and microservices using modern application-development practices.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, and engineering guidance.

Integrate Enterprise Systems

  • Design secure integrations using Apigee API Management, Microsoft Entra ID authentication, PostgreSQL, and appropriate GCP services.
  • Implement capabilities for staging, auditing, monitoring, and tracking integration data flows.
  • Ensure APIs and integrations comply with applicable enterprise security controls and API standards.

Engineer for Reliability

  • Design resilient and recoverable integration services using patterns such as idempotency, automated retries, exception handling, and controlled data reprocessing.
  • Establish comprehensive logging, monitoring, tracing, alerting, and error-management capabilities.
  • Support production readiness, incident management, root-cause analysis, and continuous reliability improvements.

Map and Transform Data

  • Define transformation logic for converting legacy-system data into SAP-compatible formats.
  • Develop field mappings, data validation, enrichment, and payload-construction rules.
  • Partner with SAP and business teams to confirm data definitions and integration requirements.

Apply AI Across the Software Development Lifecycle

  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools and practices to improve productivity across requirements, design, development, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure AI-assisted development continues to meet established quality, privacy, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to use large language models (LLMs), AI agents, and related technologies to improve engineering workflows.

Champion Engineering Excellence

  • Promote Test-Driven Development (TDD), automated testing, secure coding, peer reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
  • Drive engineering quality through automated quality gates and repeatable deployment practices.
  • Encourage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated environment provisioning.

Collaborate and Mentor

  • Partner with SAP, architecture, product, security, engineering, and business teams to translate requirements into reliable technical solutions.
  • Mentor engineering teams on GCP, Java/Spring Boot, API design, integration architecture, and operational excellence.
  • Communicate technical decisions, dependencies, risks, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience using Java.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Spring Boot and related technologies.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing cloud-native REST APIs.
  • Experience publishing and managing APIs through Apigee or a comparable enterprise API management platform.
  • 3+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform services such as Cloud Run, Cloud Run Jobs, Cloud Scheduler, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Monitoring, or equivalent experience with another major cloud platform.
  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience using Terraform or comparable Infrastructure as Code technology.
  • Experience with cloud observability, application monitoring, production support, and incident-management practices.
  • Demonstrated experience designing secure, scalable, reliable enterprise integrations.
  • Experience providing technical leadership across engineering teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with front-end frameworks such as Angular.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or managed container orchestration platforms such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
  • Experience with event-streaming or messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka.
  • Experience integrating legacy or mainframe systems with enterprise resource planning platforms such as SAP S/4HANA.
  • Experience using AI-assisted software-development tools across the software development lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with large language models (LLMs), agentic AI frameworks, AI development tools, and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
  • Experience providing technical oversight for supplier or partner engineering teams.
