Middleware Engineer 80–100% (f/m/d)

Your team

As part of our central Middleware & Application Platforms team in the IT department, you will play a key role in operating and evolving our middleware landscape. Together with application developers, release managers and infrastructure engineers, you will ensure that business-critical applications run reliably, securely and efficiently across our environments.

Your role

• operate, configure and optimize middleware platforms for business-critical applications
• design, implement and maintain standardized DevOps processes for platform lifecycle and application support
• collaborate closely with application development teams to integrate and configure applications on our middleware platforms
• troubleshoot and resolve complex middleware, performance and integration issues across test and production environments
• automate recurring operational tasks (scripting, configuration templates, Infrastructure-as-Code approaches) to increase stability and efficiency
• contribute to the continuous improvement and modernization of the middleware landscape and related processes, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements

Your expertise

• degree in (business) informatics, computer science or similar field, or comparable higher education (e.g. university of applied sciences), ideally with relevant further training in middleware or DevOps
• 3–5 years of professional experience in operating and engineering middleware platforms (Open Liberty, IBM WAS and BAW, Tomcat, Node.js or similar) in a production environment
• practical experience with release and deployment processes and tools, ideally IBM DevOps Deploy, plus good understanding of CI/CD and GitOps concepts
• solid technical skills in Linux/Unix, networking and virtualization; basic knowledge of containers and cloud platforms is an advantage
• very good English skills (spoken and written); German skills are a strong plus
• strong sense of ownership, quality and responsibility, combined with excellent communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills
