The Middle School Technical Support Liaison ensures every newly enrolled student and family has a successful transition into MGLVA by providing proactive onboarding, technical guidance, and ongoing support during the critical first weeks of enrollment. The role removes barriers to learning, builds family confidence, and helps establish positive engagement habits from day one.

Pay rate for this position: $18.00/hr

The mission of Michigan Great Lakes Virtual Academy (MGLVA) is to provide an exemplary individualized and engaging educational experience for students by incorporating school and community/family partnerships coupled with a rigorous curriculum along with a data-driven and student-centered instructional model. Student success will be measured by valid and reliable assessment data, parent and student satisfaction, and continued institutional growth within the academic community. Join us!

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.

New Student Onboarding

  • Serve as the primary onboarding contact for all newly enrolled middle school students and families.

  • Welcome families to MGLVA and establish a positive first impression.

  • Ensure students successfully complete the onboarding process before beginning instruction.

  • Coordinate and facilitate orientation activities and first-day readiness.

Technical Readiness

  • Assist families with:

    • Logging into school systems

    • Device setup and troubleshooting

    • Learning Coach and student account access

    • Navigation of the Online School (OLS)

    • Required software and technology resources

  • Identify and resolve technical barriers before they impact attendance or engagement.

Family Education & Support

  • Educate families on:

    • Daily attendance expectations

    • Online school routines

    • Communication tools

    • Where to obtain ongoing support

  • Build confidence with families who are new to virtual learning.

Student Engagement

  • Monitor participation during the first weeks of enrollment.

  • Conduct follow-up outreach when students have not yet engaged.

  • Connect families with appropriate Student Support staff when additional interventions are needed.

    Collaboration

Work closely with:

  • Student Support Advisors

  • Attendance Team

  • Student Resource Coordinators (SRCs)

  • School Leadership

  • Teachers

  • Enrollment and Registration teams to ensure a seamless transition from enrollment to active participation.

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate documentation of onboarding contacts and support provided.

  • Record communication and onboarding milestones in appropriate school systems.

  • Track onboarding completion and identify trends or recurring barriers.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma AND

  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses None required.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Great organizational and time management skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong technology skills

  • Experience using search engines (internet) for research projects

  • Experience using a student information system and/or other type of database

  • Proficient in MS Excel, MSWord, and Outlook

  • Ability to clear required background check
