Salary Range: $24.00 - $32.00 Hourly

The Harker School is seeking a dependable, adaptable, and student-centered Middle School Student Support Associate to help support the daily operations of our Middle School. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with middle school students in a dynamic school environment and is looking for a role where no two days are the same.
As a key member of the Middle School team, you will provide student supervision, classroom coverage, administrative support, and operational assistance that helps ensure a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, flexible, collaborative, and committed to supporting students and faculty wherever needed.
Schedule: This is a part-time position, generally working Monday through Friday from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. The position includes a 45-minute unpaid meal break, typically scheduled around 12:15–1:00 p.m., though lunch times may vary based on the daily needs of the school.
Position Responsibilities
Student Supervision and Support
- Supervise students in a variety of settings, including study halls and student reflection time.
- Foster a safe, respectful, and positive environment while reinforcing school expectations.
- Respond appropriately to student needs and communicate concerns or incidents to the appropriate faculty member or administrator.
- Build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
Classroom and Campus Coverage
- Provide short-term classroom coverage during unexpected or last-minute faculty absences.
- Follow lesson plans and classroom procedures provided by the absent teacher.
- Supervise study halls and other student activities as needed throughout the school day.
- Provide lunch coverage for front office staff and assist with basic reception duties when needed.
Administrative and Operational Support
- Assist with preparing materials, forms, rosters, and supplies for field trips, school programs, and special events.
- Support standardized testing by preparing rooms, supervising students, distributing and collecting materials, and assisting with testing logistics.
- Copy, organize, label, distribute, and collect school materials and documents.
- Provide general administrative support for short-term Middle School projects and other operational needs.

QualificationsRequired
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to complete Harker-provided certification upon hire.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Dependable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Basic proficiency with email, shared documents, and standard office technology.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience working with middle school-aged students.
- Experience in a school, educational, youth development, or student support setting.
- Ability to establish a calm, respectful, and supportive presence with students.
- Comfortable reinforcing expectations and responding appropriately to student behavior.

Compensation:
Pay for this position is determined according to The Harker School's established pay scale and is based on relevant education and experience, as evaluated by the Human Resources Department. The posted pay range reflects the full pay scale for this position. While the maximum rate is included for transparency, most new hires can expect to fall within the lower to middle portion of the pay scale based on their qualifications and experience.
