Sisters Academy’s passionate and innovative Science Teacher inspires curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific inquiry in students in grades 5–8. The teacher creates engaging, hands-on learning experiences that help students explore life, physical, earth, and environmental sciences while fostering confidence, collaboration, and academic excellence.

Essential Functions

Instructional Duties

  • Teach middle school science courses aligned with grade-level standards and curriculum objectives.
  • Develop engaging lessons that incorporate laboratory investigations, scientific inquiry, problem-solving, and real-world applications.
  • Promote student understanding of scientific concepts through hands-on experiments, technology integration, and collaborative learning.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse academic needs and learning styles.
  • Use data and assessments to guide instruction and support student achievement.
  • Encourage environmental awareness, curiosity, and STEM-related exploration.

Student Engagement

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and student-centered classroom culture.
  • Encourage curiosity, innovation, teamwork, and independent thinking.
  • Support students in developing scientific reasoning and communication skills.
  • Cultivate student confidence and enthusiasm for learning science.

Collaborative and Community Duties

  • Collaborate with faculty on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and community activities.
  • Support mission-centered programming and faith-based school values.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and assessment data.
  • Ensure the safe and appropriate use of laboratory equipment and classroom materials.
  • Prepare progress reports and contribute to report cards and evaluations.
  • Maintain an organized and engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Science Education, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching middle school-aged students.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Sisters Academy.

Preferred

  • Maryland State Teacher Certification or eligibility.
  • Experience with inquiry-based and hands-on science instruction.
  • Familiarity with STEM education practices and technology integration.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.

Pay Range $35,000 - $60,000, Annualized
