Sisters Academy’s dedicated and engaging Math Teacher develops students’ mathematical understanding, confidence, and problem-solving abilities in grades 5–8. The teacher creates rigorous, student-centered instruction that promotes analytical thinking, perseverance, and academic growth while supporting the school’s mission and values.

Essential Functions

Instructional Duties

  • Teach middle school mathematics courses aligned with grade-level standards and curriculum goals.
  • Develop engaging lessons that strengthen conceptual understanding, computation, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners and varying skill levels.
  • Incorporate technology, collaborative learning, and real-world applications into instruction.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and guide instructional decisions.
  • Prepare students for academic success in advanced mathematics coursework.

Student Engagement

  • Foster a supportive, inclusive, and academically rigorous classroom culture.
  • Encourage persistence, confidence, and critical thinking in mathematical learning.
  • Build positive relationships with students while maintaining high academic expectations.
  • Promote student collaboration and active participation.

Collaborative and Community Duties

  • Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and school-wide initiatives.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school community activities.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and achievement.
  • Support the mission-driven and faith-based culture of the school community.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student records.
  • Prepare assessments, progress reports, and report cards.
  • Maintain an organized classroom environment and instructional materials.
  • Consistently uphold school policies and expectations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching middle school-aged students.
  • Strong instructional, classroom management, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Sisters Academy.

Preferred

  • Maryland State Teacher Certification or eligibility.
  • Experience with differentiated math instruction and data-driven teaching practices.
  • Familiarity with middle school math intervention strategies.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.

Pay Range $35,000 - $60,000, Annualized
