OF POSITION Carrollton Middle School is seeking a caring, professional teacher, to join our team as a technology teacher. The ideal candidate is responsible for providing students with a safe, engaging, and hands-on learning experience in technology. The ideal candidate will understand the diverse learning needs of middle school students, incorporate best instructional practices, and build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.

REPORTS TO Lon Medd, Carrollton Middle School Principal

COMPENSATION Per the Carrollton Education Association Master Agreement. Years of experience taken into consideration for salary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality instruction in technology.
• Develop and maintain daily lesson plans aligned with Michigan Academic Standards.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, physical, social, and emotional needs of individual students.
• Teach age-appropriate computer skills including keyboarding, digital literacy, internet safety, productivity software, coding concepts, and educational technology applications.
• Foster student creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and responsible digital citizenship.
• Assess student progress and maintain accurate academic records.Utilize instructional strategies that promote cooperative learning and student engagement.
• Supervise students during instructional periods, transitions, and other assigned duties.
• Maintain a safe learning environment in the classroom.
• Build positive relationships with students while maintaining high behavioral and academic expectations.
• Implement behavioral interventions and classroom management strategies as needed.
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and implement accommodations when appropriate.
• Make referrals to appropriate support services when necessary.
• Work collaboratively with partner school staff, families, and administrators to support student success.
• Maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress.
• Attend parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, professional development, and district in-service activities.
• Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct in all interactions.
• Support school activities, events, and extracurricular programs as appropriate.
• Monitor equipment for safety and report repair or replacement needs.
• Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations, and student safety procedures.
• Demonstrate competency in educational technology and instructional software.
• Participate in ongoing professional learning to remain current with instructional practices and educational technology.
• Maintain confidentiality of all student, parent, and staff information.
• Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Maintain a positive, professional attitude with students, families, staff, and community members.

• Participate as an active member of the school team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate.
• Knowledge of Michigan Academic Standards and best instructional practices.
• Ability to effectively integrate technology into classroom instruction.
• Excellent classroom management skills.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional learning community.
• Experience working with diverse student populations, including at-risk learners.
• Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations and assist students when necessary.

• Must possess or be willing to complete training to become Adult/Infant/CPR/First Aid Certified.

Must satisfactorily pass:

• Must receive a satisfactory response to 4205-F Authorization for Release of Information and Employee History Check Under 1996 P.A.189 of 1996; MCL380.1230b.
• Law enforcement background checks with fingerprinting.

• Personal and professional reference background check.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS:

• Must be Highly Qualified (HQ) and certified by the State of Michigan for grades 6�12.
• Demonstrated competency in teaching at the secondary level.

• Preference will be given to teachers with technology instructional experience.
