Team

The Convertible Bonds Middle Office team supports the Convertible Bond trading and sales departments, across the EMEA and APAC regions. The middle office team provides desk support throughout the trade lifecycle, ensuring smooth trade capture/allocation and timely resolution of issues across the full suite of relevant products, including Convertible Bonds, Equity, Futures & Options, Credit Default Swaps.

Role

The role involves actively contributing to the team and investigating all queries as they arise. You will follow established team structures and processes to ensure the business is supported effectively and that clients and internal stakeholders receive consistently high levels of service. You will also represent the team and department in a professional, collaborative, and commercially minded manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working as part of a team, providing coverage for all Middle Office functions across the EMEA and APAC convertible bonds businesses, resolving complex tasks in a time sensitive environment.
  • Ensure accurate and timely capture of trades, coordinating with counterparties / stakeholders for allocations and break resolution.
  • Support the Primary Issuance of Convertible Bonds to market.
  • Maintain technical capabilities, staying abreast of market and industry developments and completing appropriate additional training.
  • Awareness of BAU functions supporting Corporate Actions, Client Money segregation, unmatched/failed settlements & buy-Ins.
  • Perform daily system reconciliations at both the position and trade level.
  • Identify and pursue automation and process improvement opportunities. Participate in strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, logging and tracking progress of projects and initiatives.
  • Awareness of weekly / monthly MI on trade and allocation volumes, client activity, breaks and settlement statistics.
  • Proactively build and strengthen relationships with Trading and Operations teams to support an efficient and productive Middle Office.
  • Regularly review procedures, processes, controls and checklists to ensure adherence to internal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Improve STP rates through analysis of trade flows, cancel/amend rates and root cause analysis of breaks.

Qualifications

  • Able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of all Convertible Bond related products.
  • Experience of working within a Middle Office / Trade Support environment.
  • Individual must be a team player and collaborator with experience providing high levels of service to Clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Must be highly analytical with excellent organizational and communication skills - able to confidently face off against the Business, Senior Management and external clients.
  • Must be able to resolve multiple exceptions and queries through resolution in a busy, time-critical environment.
  • Good knowledge of New Issues and ECM support processes.
  • A good understanding of the post execution trade lifecycle from booking, allocation, confirmation and settlement.
