Job Posting Title

Assistant Vice President – Middle Office Automation & Data Enablement Lead

State Street’s Middle Office function is establishing a small specialist team to design, deliver and support business-driven automation and data enablement solutions across reconciliations, exception management, document processing, and cross-system workflows. This Vice President is the service owner for the automation capability, accountable for portfolio prioritization, risk and controls, and stable production operations.

Who we are looking for

A senior operations/technology leader with proven experience delivering change in regulated investment operations. You will lead a six-person pod covering governance, engineering and run support, partnering with Operations teams who own process discovery and subject-matter expertise.

Why this role is important to us

Middle Office teams handle critical and time-sensitive controls, executions and decisions. Scaling automation safely requires clear ownership, strong governance, and a support model that maintains service levels while reducing manual effort and operational risk.

What you will be responsible for

As Vice President you will

  • Own the automation service (build + run) and provide a clear operating rhythm: intake, prioritisation, release, and support.
  • Partner with Operations leaders to convert discovery into a ranked backlog aligned to client impact, risk reduction, and capacity release.
  • Act as escalation point for production automations; ensure timely triage, communication, and resolution of issues.
  • Set standards for solution design, documentation, and evidence (runbooks, controls, audit trails) across Power Platform and RPA.
  • Ensure governance and lifecycle management (ownership, co-ownership, service accounts, periodic reviews/recertification).
  • Drive a “systemic fix first” approach to recurring data issues; coordinate remediation across data providers/technology partners.
  • Develop team capability through coaching, performance management, and skills development.
  • Provide executive reporting on pipeline, value delivered, risk/compliance posture, and support health (incidents, trends).

Additional Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder & Client Management

  • Build strong relationships with Operations, Technology, Product, Risk/Compliance and Service Management stakeholders.
  • Represent the automation program in governance forums; communicate progress, dependencies and decisions clearly.
  • Promote adoption by ensuring solutions meet user needs, are usable, and are embedded in BAU processes.

Risk Management & Control Assurance

  • Ensure appropriate controls exist for automated processes (maker-checker where required, logging, access management).
  • Oversee incident/problem management alignment and lessons learned to reduce repeat failures.
  • Ensure documentation supports audit and regulatory requirements applicable to the serviced processes.

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role:

  • Deep understanding of investment operations / Middle Office processing and control environment.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management; ability to influence across functions and geographies.
  • Proven track record delivering automation, process improvement, and technology change in regulated environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to make sound decisions under time pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present to senior audiences.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 12+ years of professional experience (Middle Office / Investment Operations, Technology, or relevant consulting).
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience in a global/complex operating model.
  • Degree in finance, business, technology or equivalent relevant industry experience.

Assistant Vice President – Middle Office Automation Solution Architect (Automation & Data)

State Street’s Middle Office function is establishing a small specialist team to design, deliver and support business-driven automation and data enablement solutions across reconciliations, exception management, document processing, and cross-system workflows. This Assistant Vice President is accountable for intake analysis, solution shaping, and high-quality documentation—turning Operations’ discovery and SME input into clear epics/stories, requirements, sizing, and training materials so automations can be delivered and supported reliably in production.

Who we are looking for

A structured, delivery-minded techno-functional leader who can translate operational problems into well-defined automation work packages. You are strong in process analysis, requirements, and documentation, and you bring a practical understanding of controls and auditability in a regulated operations environment. You partner closely with Operations SMEs, the Service Owner, and engineering roles to ensure solutions are unambiguous, testable, and ready to embed into BAU.

Why this role is important to us

Middle Office teams handle time-sensitive processing in a control-heavy environment. To scale automation safely and consistently, we need clear front-end ownership of problem definition, requirements, sizing, and documentation—so delivery is efficient, outcomes are measurable, and production support is stable with audit-ready evidence and runbooks.

What you will be responsible for

As Assistant Vice President you will

  • Own intake analysis for automation demand: clarify the problem statement, scope boundaries, constraints, assumptions, and desired outcomes in partnership with Operations SMEs and the Service Owner.
  • Produce high-quality epic/story documentation and functional requirements that are clear, testable, and aligned to delivery standards (including exception paths, evidence needs, and operational handoffs).
  • Lead process mapping and “to be” workflow definition, documenting roles, decision points, exception handling, and BAU embedding requirements for each use case.
  • Provide sizing ownership: develop effort estimates and complexity assessments (in coordination with the Technical Lead) to support prioritisation and planning.
  • Define acceptance criteria and test scenarios, supporting UAT readiness by ensuring requirements traceability and that outcomes can be evidenced.
  • Create and maintain training and adoption materials (user guides, quick reference guides, training decks) and support BAU transition so Operations teams can run the process confidently post go live
  • Ensure documentation supports governance expectations: clear ownership/co ownership, required approvals/registration inputs, and auditable artefacts aligned to the team’s operating model.
  • Maintain a clean, transparent backlog view (use case briefs, status, dependencies, and decisions), enabling the Service Owner to communicate pipeline, progress, and value delivered.

Additional Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder & Delivery Enablement

  • Act as the primary interface between Operations SMEs and the pod for requirements shaping—ensuring SMEs remain focused on discovery and business context while the pod receives clear delivery-ready inputs.
  • Facilitate workshops and walkthroughs to confirm shared understanding across Operations, the Technical Lead, and support stakeholders before build starts and prior to release

Controls, Auditability & Documentation Quality

  • Ensure each automation has the documentation required for production readiness and control testing (process narrative, control points, evidence expectations, and BAU procedures), partnering with the Service Owner and governance process.

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role:

  • Strong capability in business analysis, process mapping, and writing clear requirements that engineers and operations teams can execute against
  • Comfort operating in a control heavy, regulated environment with an audit-ready mindset (documentation quality, traceability, evidence expectations).
  • Strong stakeholder management—able to drive clarity, resolve ambiguity, and keep multiple parties aligned across priorities.
  • Structured communication: able to present succinct problem statements, options, dependencies, and impacts to senior stakeholders.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience in business analysis, product/process change, automation enablement, or relevant techno-functional roles.
  • Experience supporting investment operations / Middle Office processing and controls preferred.
  • Degree in finance, business, technology or equivalent relevant industry experience.

Job Posting Title

Assistant Vice President – Middle Office Automation Technical Lead (Engineering & Run)

State Street’s Middle Office function is establishing a small specialist team to design, deliver and support business-driven automation and data enablement solutions across reconciliations, exception management, document processing, and cross-system workflows. This Assistant Vice President is the Technical Lead for the automation capability, acting as the technical design authority and escalation point for build quality, production stability, and permanent fixes across Power Platform and RPA solutions.

Who we are looking for

A hands-on technical leader with strong automation engineering and production support experience in regulated environments. You can design supportable solutions end-to-end, guide build execution, and lead complex troubleshooting when automations fail in production. You bring a pragmatic “integration-first” mindset and know how to embed controls, monitoring, and auditability into workflows from day one.

Why this role is important to us

Middle Office teams operate time-sensitive, control-heavy processes where breaks and delays can drive operational risk. As automation scales, we need a clear technical owner who can ensure solutions are resilient, observable, and maintainable — and who can drive permanent remediation of recurring failures (systemic fixes) rather than repeated break-fix effort.

What you will be responsible for

As Assistant Vice President you will

  • Act as technical design authority for new automations and significant enhancements, ensuring solutions are supportable, secure, and aligned to the “integration-first” principle (UI automation only where APIs/authoritative sources are unavailable).
  • Lead technical design reviews and set reusable patterns for error handling, retries, logging, evidence capture, and exception routing to Operations.
  • Provide hands-on leadership for complex builds and fixes, supporting Officers in delivery execution across Power Platform and RPA tooling as required.
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for production automations (L2), driving timely diagnosis, stakeholder updates (in partnership with the Service Owner), and durable resolution under change control.
  • Own monitoring and operational telemetry standards for automations (run health, failure classification, alerting, incident trend analysis) and reduce repeat failures through systematic improvements.
  • Partner with Operations SMEs and data/technology stakeholders to address systemic data issues that drive recurring exceptions and manual rework, prioritizing permanent fixes and authoritative-source alignment.
  • Define and enforce non-functional requirements: resilience, performance, access controls, segregation-of-duties expectations, and audit-ready documentation/evidence.
  • Support controlled releases by contributing technical inputs to readiness gates (test evidence, runbook completeness, rollback/contingency, monitoring in place).

Additional Key Responsibilities

Engineering Excellence

  • Establish lightweight engineering standards for the pod: versioning, peer review, reusable components/templates, and consistent runbook structure.
  • Coach and upskill citizen developers through practical guidance, code/config reviews, and troubleshooting playbooks.

Run & Reliability

  • Drive problem management for automations: root cause analysis, trend reporting, and reduction of operational noise through permanent remediation.
  • Maintain a clear technical escalation pathway to enterprise platform support (L3) for platform incidents and complex defects.

Data & Controls

  • Ensure solutions embed appropriate controls (logging, evidence packs, maker-checker where required) and align to governance expectations for lifecycle management and auditability.

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role:

  • Strong hands-on experience designing and supporting production automations with robust monitoring, controls, and operational documentation.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues under time pressure and lead structured root-cause analysis.
  • Practical understanding of integration patterns, data quality failure modes, and exception management in operations environments.
  • Clear communication skills — able to translate technical detail into operational impact and options for decision-makers.
  • Bias toward simplicity, maintainability, and “build once, run reliably” outcomes.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience in automation engineering, workflow/integration delivery, or related techno-functional roles.
  • Experience delivering automation in financial services operations or other regulated environments preferred.
  • Degree in technology, engineering, finance, business or equivalent relevant industry experience.
