We are currently hiring a Backend Developer to join our I&E HUB in Lisbon.

What do we do in our team?

In the R2D2 (Real-Time Remote Data Delivery) team, we build and evolve a connected vehicle data product that enables Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Digital Services teams to access vehicle data in a scalable and efficient way.

Operating across embedded and cloud domains, we design end-to-end solutions that allow stakeholders to request and receive relevant vehicle data through secure and reliable mechanisms. By simplifying and standardizing data access, we accelerate innovation across digital products and analytics initiatives. Vehicle data plays a critical role in improving performance, reliability, safety, and sustainability. The insights generated support better engineering decisions, smarter logistics planning, optimized fleet usage, and deeper understanding of vehicle health and driver behavior.

We work in an agile environment with a strong product-oriented mindset, taking ownership from idea to operation and ensuring what we build is robust, scalable, and trusted.

What will your responsibilities be?

• Create, test, deploy and run (DevOps) backend solutions and internal tools using modern cloud infrastructure, being responsible for the entire software lifecycle.

• Maintain cloud native microservices using containers, serverless functions, RESTful APIs and event streaming.

• Develop and maintain functionality for our trucks using agile methodologies.

• Create prototypes, Minimum Valuable Products (MVPs) and products.

• Be able to take end to end responsibility for the products owned.

• Take initiative to solve problems and overcome roadblocks.

• Solve problems in innovative and pragmatic ways.

• Advise the team and other teams on all questions around backend and tool development in an automotive IoT environment and work together on continuously improving the service, tooling and processes (is a plus).

What requirements are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree in related field or comparable job expertise.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience.

• Very good English skills, both written and spoken.

• Solid experience with backend development in Java/Kotlin with focus on RESTful APIs and event driven architecture (e.g. Kafka, Kinesis, SQS, MQTT).

• Relevant knowledge in frameworks, ideally Spring Boot.

• Relevant knowledge of relational database management systems (like Aurora).

• Solid experience with Clean Code and Clean Architecture principles as well as common software design patterns. Emphasis on quality, maintainability and usability.

• Experience with CI/CD and microservice architecture.

• Relevant experience in the conception and implementation of complex software solutions in an international context.

• Experience in using and integrating cloud services (preferably AWS) with cloud paradigms like Infrastructure-as-code (IaC), PaaS, alerting and monitoring is a plus.

• Knowledge of Python for rapid prototyping and tooling is a plus.

• Agile and DevOps mindset.

• Very good English skills, both written and spoken.
