Mid-Level Structural Analysis Engineer

Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) is looking for a Mid-Level Structural Analysis Engineer to support the Environmental Test Design Engineering team in Berkeley, MO.

The primary focus of this position is to support St. Louis Environmental Lab testing for local Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) programs. The design team works in partnership with the lab test teams to provide the designs and hardware needed to complete testing. Test capabilities within the Environmental labs include vibrational/structural dynamics, acoustic, airflow systems, fuel flow systems, high temperature flow impingement, and environmental control chambers, where temperature, humidity, and pressure are varied.

As a structural analysis engineer, you will be responsible for the structural analysis and verification of test fixtures, support structures, and test-article modifications used in environmental test programs. You will perform strength and fatigue analyses of metallic and composite structural components and document analysis results. Our engineers collaborate closely across multiple technical disciplines and organizations to develop integrated solutions for complex engineering challenges. You will work closely with mechanical design, test, and facility teams to ensure test hardware meets load, vibration, thermal, and safety requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

• Define and document load cases, boundary conditions, and acceptance criteria based on test objectives and facility constraints
• Perform structural analyses (static, fatigue, modal, thermal and dynamic) on test fixtures, supports, and modified test articles
• Develop and validate finite-element models (FEA) and hand-calculation checks to support design decisions
• Review CAD/assembly models and test setups to ensure structural integrity
• Provide timely engineering guidance to the mechanical design team during concept development and detailed design phases
• Evaluate designs for strength, stiffness, fatigue life, and resonant behavior; recommend mitigations and design improvements
• Participate in design reviews, test plan reviews, and pre-test readiness reviews
• Support installation, instrumentation placement, and on-site troubleshooting during test setup and execution
• Produce analysis reports, verification documentation, and input for test procedures and acceptance criteria
• Support thermal and coupled structural/thermal analyses as required for environmental tests

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required
• Ability to obtain and maintain access to a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and/or Special Access Program (SAP) access
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
• 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
• Experience in structural analysis methods and tools such as Finite Element Analysis
• Experience with Model Based Engineering Tools such as Maya, 3DX, Blender, CATIA, or other 3D CAD software
• Experience utilizing analytical tools (e.g. classical stress analysis and CAD based tools) to validate design and document in report format

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
• Knowledge of materials selection, structural load paths, and failure modes common to test fixtures and aerospace hardware
• 7+ years of relevant structural analysis experience, preferably in aerospace, test-article design, or structural test environments.
• 2+ years of experience in test and evaluation
• Experience with modal, random vibration, shock, static, and fatigue analyses
• Experience in developing solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems, requiring ingenuity and innovation
• Clear technical writing and ability to coordinate with mechanical, systems, and test teams
• Understanding of structural dynamics, fluid flow, and thermodynamics theory & application
• Active U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range: $103,700 - $140,300

Potential signing bonus for eligible/qualified external candidates.
