Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking to hire an experienced Data Scientist for its' Joint Distribution Process Analysis Center (JDPAC) program with the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM). This role is critical to advancing data-driven decision-making for USTRANSCOM by developing and refining analytical tools that enhance operational efficiency across global transportation networks.

Location: Scott AFB, IL; Flexible for occasional telework – must be local to work location.

In this role, you will:

• Design, build, and evaluate machine learning models.
• Build dashboards and visualizations to help operators and analysts interpret data.
• Advance the mission by connecting customers and their challenges with data science solutions.
• Think creatively to develop actionable tools and challenge the state of the art.
• Challenge and support teammates. Share ideas. Win together.
• Continuously improve the accuracy, speed, and efficacy of existing tools.
• Communicate advanced concepts and information in an understandable manner for audiences of varying levels of competency.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships to support USTRANSCOM.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of technology trends.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years with BS/BA degree; Minimum of 3 years with MS/MA degree.
• Experience with development and implementation of enterprise-level data science solutions.
• Knowledge of various machine learning methods including classification, regression, time-series forecasting, neural networks, deep learning, and artificial intelligence.
• Strong Python skills.
• Demonstrated creative thinker with a mission-minded focus.
• Must have a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
• Ability to persist in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Palantir Foundry.
• Familiarity with USTRANSCOM processes and systems.

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
