Boeing Global Services (BGS) C-17 Engineering team is seeking a Mid-Level C-17 Support Equipment Lab Technician to support our operations and hardware engineering team located in Long Beach, California. This role will be integral in maintaining and operating test equipment, supporting hardware and software development, and ensuring the smooth operation of the development laboratory for major aerospace programs such as C-17.

This role will work closely with engineers to help design, fabricate, assemble, maintain and troubleshoot test equipment and components, coordinate lab activities, and contribute to the continuous improvement of aircraft support equipment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge aerospace projects in a collaborative and innovative environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports daily lab activities to plan, conduct, and develop tests on hardware, systems, components, and materials in support of avionics test equipment hardware development
  • Designs, fabricates, builds and analyzes test systems, materials, components
  • Fabricates wire harness per drawing standards to meet aircraft specifications
  • Provides technical support for project management, including development, proposals, cost and schedule estimates, and design and implementation
  • Maintains lab equipment including support for tracking, calibration and movement
  • Troubleshoots and resolves laboratory test equipment-related problems and repair
  • Interfaces with engineers, peers, team leaders, internal and external suppliers, and laboratory users for direction, collaboration, approval, and identifying requirements to resolve design, manufacturing, and related process problems
  • Maintains inventory of consumables (cleaning supplies, wires, connectors, adhesives, tubing, tools, etc.)
  • Organizes lab tools and parts using 5S or similar principles to ensure a clean free efficient workspace

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years’ electronic/electrical experience in any of the following fields: machine tool maintenance, industrial electronic and/or electrical maintenance field, or military electronic/electrical system maintenance
  • 3+ years’ experience working with wiring diagrams and/or functional schematics
  • 3+ years’ experience constructing wire harnesses and panels by cutting, sorting, color-coding, measuring, stripping, crimping, soldering, and routing various lengths, types, and gauges of wire, heat-shrink, and other related materials

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity with avionics electrical data bus interface standards (e.g., Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC 429, ARINC 801)
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD connectors such as D38999
  • Experience with assembly, rework, and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical assemblies including the use of oscilloscope, multimeters, analog and digital designs
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze test data for the troubleshooting of test equipment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and under general direction, self-motivated and proactive
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, iterative environment where requirements and priorities may shift rapidly

pay range: $68,000 - $92,000
