Join a major business application transformation program and help establish an enterprise’s first microservices and event-driven architecture foundations.

This is a senior technical leadership opportunity for an experienced Microservices and AI Technical Lead who can influence solution design, guide engineering decisions and embed AI-enabled practices across the software delivery lifecycle.

You will provide architectural authority across cloud-native, microservices and AI-enabled platforms while building the organisation’s long-term engineering capability through governance, leadership and knowledge transfer.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide technical leadership and architectural authority for the design, governance and evolution of cloud-native, microservices-based and AI-enabled platforms.
  • Ensure technology solutions align with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity and business transformation objectives.
  • Guide the adoption of AI across the software development and service delivery lifecycle.
  • Establish modern engineering practices covering AI-enabled software development, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability and platform engineering.
  • Lead the enhancement of microservices and event-driven architecture capabilities.
  • Drive platform modernisation through containerisation, enterprise system integration and reusable engineering patterns.
  • Improve the scalability, maintainability, security, reliability and operational resilience of business-critical platforms.
  • Influence system builds, architecture decisions and technology investment priorities.
  • Provide technical direction to multidisciplinary teams, delivery partners and senior stakeholders.
  • Establish engineering governance and standards that support secure, scalable and reliable service delivery.
  • Build internal capability through coaching, knowledge transfer and practical leadership throughout delivery.
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

  • Extensive experience designing, implementing and governing cloud-native, microservices and event-driven architectures within complex enterprise environments.
  • A demonstrated record of delivering scalable, resilient and secure business-critical platforms.
  • Strong expertise in AI engineering and AI-enabled solution delivery.
  • Experience developing, deploying and operationalising enterprise AI capabilities, including semantic search and machine-learning solutions.
  • Knowledge of responsible AI principles, governance and implementation practices.
  • Strong software and platform engineering capability across modern development frameworks.
  • Practical expertise in DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, security by design and operational excellence.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise technology modernisation and transformation initiatives.
  • The ability to provide technical direction, influence architectural decisions and deliver measurable improvements in platform reliability, security, scalability and engineering maturity.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivery partners while engaging effectively with senior executives.
  • The ability to translate complex business requirements into practical and achievable technology outcomes.

Highly Regarded

  • Experience designing, implementing and operating container platforms using Kubernetes, OpenShift, Azure Kubernetes Service, Amazon EKS or Google Kubernetes Engine.
  • Knowledge of container-platform automation, governance and workload management.
  • Experience with cloud-platform modernisation, Site Reliability Engineering, platform engineering and enterprise-scale automation.
  • Familiarity with contemporary observability platforms and practices.
  • Experience leading delivery within Agile environments.
  • Experience coaching geographically dispersed teams and driving organisation-wide capability uplift.
