Job Description

• Safety Policy Development Create and implement comprehensive safety protocols, including accident prevention measures and driver handbooks.
• Regulatory Compliance Maintain 100% compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations, including managing Driver Qualification (DQ) files and Hours of Service (HOS) logs.
• Driver Training & Coaching Conduct initial orientations and ongoing safety meetings. Use telematics data to coach drivers on behaviors like speeding or harsh braking.
• Incident Management Lead investigations for all vehicle accidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Safety Audits Perform regular terminal, facility, and field audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety programs.
• Maintenance Oversight Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure all vehicles undergo required inspections (e.g., CVIPs) and preventative maintenance. 
   

• Regulatory Knowledge Deep understanding of  FMCSA,  DOT, and  OSHA standards is essential.
• Technical Proficiency Experience with  Telematics (e.g., Geotab, Samsara),  Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs), and Fleet Management Software (FMS).
• Experience Typically requires 3–5+ years in transportation safety or logistics management.
• Education A bachelor’s degree in  Safety Management,  Logistics, or a related field is often preferred.
• Certifications Professional certifications such as  Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or  Certified Director of Safety (CDS) are highly beneficial.
• Leadership Strong communication skills to influence safety culture across all levels of the organization.
