Manages day‑to‑day facilities operations and maintenance for assigned office and facility locations to ensure a safe, clean, and functional work environment for employees. Leads a facilities operations team and oversees third‑party service providers responsible for building maintenance, repairs, and contracted services. Supports short‑ and mid‑term facilities improvement planning, coordinates capital and renovation projects within established budgets, and manages operational expenditures for facilities and real estate cost centers. Exercises managerial judgment to resolve issues, prioritize work, and ensure compliance with safety, health, and facilities standards.

Essential Functions

  • Manage daily facilities operations, including supervision of staff and oversight of third‑party service providers and subcontractors, ensuring services meet defined performance, safety, and quality standards.
  • Lead execution of routine maintenance, repairs, and minor renovation projects, coordinating resources, schedules, and vendors to minimize disruption and maintain building functionality.
  • Develop and maintain short‑ and mid‑term facilities maintenance and improvement plans, supporting asset replacement or renovation needs within approved budgets and organizational priorities.
  • Manage facilities operating budgets and vendor costs, including forecasting, tracking expenditures, reviewing invoices, and identifying cost‑control or process‑improvement opportunities.
  • Support planning and execution of facilities construction or improvement projects (e.g., office renovations, system upgrades), working with service providers and internal partners to deliver projects on time and within scope.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
  • Plus 7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Construction, electrical and/or mechanical background

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.
  • Plus 9 years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of facilities management practices, including building systems, maintenance, and coordination with design and construction service providers.
  • Proven people‑management and supervisory skills, including experience leading facilities staff, assigning work, and ensuring completion of day‑to‑day operational tasks.
  • Experience managing third‑party maintenance vendors and service contracts, including monitoring performance, resolving service issues, and enforcing contract expectations.
  • Solid financial and analytical skills, including experience managing operating budgets, tracking vendor expenses, and supporting capital or improvement project costs.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments, convey operational issues clearly, ability to be on call and respond promptly to emergency situations.

The salary/hourly range is $113,200.00 – $146,664.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

If an applicant/employee refuses to provide written consent for Amtrak to obtain these records, the individual will not be permitted to perform safety-sensitive functions.

In accordance with federal law governing security checks of covered individuals for providers of public transportation (Title 6 U.S.C. §1143), Amtrak is required to screen applicants for any permanent or interim disqualifying criminal offenses.
