Manager, Environmental Services

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

Morristown Hamblen Overview:

Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System is a 170-bed hospital serving an eight-county region in East Tennessee’s Lakeway Area. The facility includes more than 20 emergency suites, advanced laboratories, radiology, and therapy services, and a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence for mammograms, biopsies, and nurse navigation. Manages the housekeeping department; establishes policies, procedure, objectives, and work standards. Maintains quality control and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Selects, trains/orients and assigns department staff. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Develops department goals and objectives, and establishes and implements policies and procedures for department operation.
  • Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensures that department operates within budget.
  • Directs the preparation and maintenance of department reports. Prepares periodic reports for top management, as required.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates and supervises functions and activities of the housekeeping department to maintain the hospital environment in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Schedules and supervises housekeeping functions and activities so as not to interrupt or interfere with patient care activities.
  • Provides essential equipment and supplies and ensures that cleaning agents/housekeeping chemicals meet required standards to effect maximum cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Investigates and evaluates new housekeeping supplies and equipment and makes recommendations to administration.
  • Inspects and evaluates the hospital's physical condition. Makes recommendations concerning painting, repairs, furnishings and furniture, relocation of equipment, and allocation of space to improve sanitation, appearances, and efficiency.
  • Local travel required.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

High School or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred

Minimum Experience:

Sufficient previous administrative/supervisory experience in a hospital or similar institution

Licensure Requirement:

Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
