Job Description

The Emergency Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the administrative and operational aspects of the Emergency Medical Services Department. The Emergency Services Manager is also a practicing Paramedic and will administer first-aid and emergency medical treatment to ACADEMI Training Center employees, clients, and guests.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to the Emergency Medical Services operations are in place and maintained
  • Act as a liaison between employees, clients, and guests and ACADEMI Emergency Medical Department
  • Administrate the on-site Automated External Defibrillator and First-Aid kit programs
  • Maintain a relationship with State and local Emergency Medical Services Agencies, Medical Director(s) and surrounding Fire and Emergency Medical Services
  • Respond to emergency medical dispatch requests and drive a specifically equipped emergency vehicle
  • Determine nature and extent of illness or injury to establish first aid procedures to be followed or need for additional assistance, basing decisions on statements of people involved, examination of victim or victims, and knowledge of emergency medical practices
  • Administer consistent, high quality prescribed first-aid treatment at site of emergency, performing such activities as: opening and maintaining an airway; ventilating patients; administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation; using automated external defibrillators; administration of intravenous injections and medication; treatment of minor wounds or abrasions; and application of splints
  • Provide pre-hospital emergency medical care of simple and multiple system traumas such as: controlling hemorrhage; treatment of shock (hypo perfusion); bandaging wounds; immobilization of painful, swollen, or deformed extremities; and immobilization of painful, swollen, or deformed neck or spine
  • Assess nature and extent of illness or magnitude of crisis and provide appropriate emergency medical care
  • Remove or assist in removal of victims from scene of accident or catastrophe if needed
  • Assist clinic professional staff with patient care to include intake, registration and triage
  • Maintain vehicles, medical, and communication equipment in accordance with state and federal regulations
  • Maintain timely, legible, highly accurate recordkeeping as required by the Company, local, state and federal regulations
  • Display an exemplary, safe, and professional demeanor at all times
  • Practice absolute professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and competency with patients, their families, the public, other agencies, and coworkers
  • Attend continuing education and refresher training programs as required by employer, medical control, licensing or certifying agencies
  • Ensure adequate emergency medical supplies and Medications are available for use
  • Provide a yearly Budget and work to order emergency medical supplies and medications within that approved budget
  • Act as a Liasson with Fire Suppression companies who are responsible for inspecting repairing and maintaining the suppression systems at our facility
  • Facilitate the payment of fire suppression inspections, repair and maintenance
  • Review and approve the timecards of all the EMS providers assigned to the emergency services department. Verifying accuracy of the timecards and hours worked
  • Ensure all EMS providers are maintaining the state required certifications to practice at the advanced life support level
  • The Emergency Services Manager will be responsible for scheduling Paramedics to work while training is being conducted. Minimum staffing will always consist of 1 paramedic on duty while training is being conducted however when staffing availability permits a second Paramedic will be on duty
  • The Emergency Service Manager will be responsible for reviewing applications for employment, making hiring decisions and providing the necessary training required to allow a potential employee to provide treatment as a member of Academi Emergency Services
  • Ensure all EMS providers working for Academi meet our company’s high employment standards and provide corrective action when disciplinary actions are necessary
  • Adequately document internal incident reports
  • The Emergency Services Manager Will Document in the companies Riskonnect computer software all injuries that occur to all Academi employees
  • The Emergency Service Manager will also coordinate with the company’s safety officer to conduct supervisory investigation reports for all injuries to Academi employees and provide the documented corrective actions necessary
  • Coordinate the licensing of our quick response vehicles with the North Carolina Department of Emergency Management
  • Work is based in a busy training environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required, including heat, cold and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must wear personal protective equipment as required by established Company safety standards. Normal business hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 4:30 pm, however some extended hours or weekends may be required, and work schedule will vary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Five years of experience in pre-hospital medical field, with a minimum of five years as Advance Life Support
  • Current State of North Carolina Paramedic certification required
  • Must be able to pass a physical abilities test
  • Must maintain and provide proof of currency of required EMT certification and other licenses
  • Must be a member in good standing with local County Rescue or EMS Agency
  • Must have a valid US drivers license and satisfactory driver record
  • Must be willing to operate Company vehicle
  • Knowledge of medical protocols, policies, and procedures required
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
  • Problem-solving skills with an analytical thought process
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Must be able to lift, lower, carry, push or move objects up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 100 or more lbs. with assistance.  Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday. Requires constant use of hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms
