Position Summary
Under general supervision and in accordance with established protocols and procedures, the Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasound imaging equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images used by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and injury. This role is responsible for providing exceptional patient care while ensuring all imaging studies are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with departmental, organizational, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate ultrasound imaging equipment to perform diagnostic examinations and obtain high-quality images for interpretation.
- Prepare patients for procedures by reviewing medical histories, explaining exam processes, and positioning patients appropriately to ensure accurate imaging results.
- Select appropriate imaging techniques and follow department protocols to provide complete and accurate studies.
- Document examination findings and provide preliminary observations to the interpreting Radiologist.
- Maintain knowledge of disease processes, anatomy, and patient care needs to produce clinically relevant diagnostic images.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients while respecting confidentiality, dignity, privacy, and ethical standards.
- Maintain examination rooms, equipment, and supplies in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Notify appropriate personnel when supplies require replenishment.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives and utilize cost-conscious practices when appropriate.
- Demonstrate flexibility in meeting staffing needs, including shift coverage and overtime requirements.
- Exercise sound judgment and independent decision-making in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Utilize aseptic and sterile techniques when assisting with invasive procedures and support physicians and radiologists during such procedures as needed.
- Maintain inventory and organization of supplies required for invasive and specialty procedures.
- Foster positive working relationships and effective communication with departmental staff, providers, patients, and community partners.
- Operate and maintain proficiency with all imaging equipment, information systems, scheduling applications, and reporting systems required for patient care.
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly and coordinate service and repair requests as necessary.
- Complete all required documentation, including verification of physician orders, coding requirements, and exam-related records.
- Stay current with advancements in ultrasound technology, imaging techniques, and professional standards through continuing education and professional development activities.
- Attend departmental meetings, educational sessions, and mandatory training programs.
- Provide guidance and instruction to students and other assigned staff as directed by leadership.
- Assist in the indirect supervision of support personnel.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients who may be experiencing physical discomfort or emotional stress.
- Demonstrated analytical and technical skills necessary to perform diagnostic sonography procedures and apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and imaging techniques.
- Professional appearance and demeanor consistent with organizational standards and dress code requirements.
Education and Certification
- ARDMS Certification required, or ARDMS eligible, defined as: Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program, and Minimum of 12 months of full-time clinical ultrasound experience.
Working Conditions
- Must adhere to OSHA regulations and all organizational safety standards.
- Must possess the knowledge and ability to respond appropriately to patient emergencies, fire safety situations, and other emergency events.
- Position requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, and other physical movements associated with patient care.
- May occasionally be required to sit for extended periods.
- Exposure to infectious diseases, blood, bodily fluids, and other healthcare-related hazards may occur.

Pay Range:
$39.56-$65.28
