Controls and Automation Engineer

What will you do?
Provide technical leadership for the installation, maintenance, and integration of process control equipment within the facility. Oversee and coordinate control system projects in support of site operations, including the selection of control system equipment and instrumentation for capital projects. Specify, design, and install process control systems that support manufacturing operations. This role will report directly to the Engineering Manager.
1. Design & Program control systems for new and existing production & facilities processes and systems
2. Provide on-site production support to production teams for design, initial start-up, and continuous improvement projects.
3. Lead automation system commissioning, startup activities, and continuous improvement initiatives supporting production operations.
4. Analyze and recommend improvements to manufacturing processes to improve capacity, reduce labor, and increase uptime, through the use of automation.
5. Perform programming changes required to maintain and improve manufacturing processes.
6. Communicate production problems with management and attend appropriate meetings as necessary to help solve production issues or conditions that limit the efficient use of machines and tools.
7. Support mechanical design efforts related to automation equipment, tooling, and machine modifications using AutoCAD, Solidworks, and other design tools.
8. Ensure automation systems comply with company safety requirements and applicable machine and electrical safety standards.
9. Provide leadership and supervision for a small team of automation technicians and controls personnel.
What makes you a great catch?
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred. Equivalent technical training and relevant experience will be considered.
• 5+ years of engineering experience supporting, commissioning and troubleshooting PLC/PC industrial control systems (Siemens, Rockwell Systems/Allen Bradley) and their industrial networks (DeviceNet, Profibus, Ethernet I/O)
• Experience with process controls equipment including PLCs, HMI’s, SCADA systems, SQL relational database systems.
• Problem Solving and communication skills
• Analytical and mechanical skills

• Fanuc robotics and automation systems
