Key Responsibilities

This is a supervisory level role within the Medicaid Fraud and Patient Abuse Division. The incumbent must have at least 3 years of experience investigating Medicaid fraud cases and cases involving patient abuse, neglect, or exploitation, is recognized as an expert or highly skilled in investigative procedures, and must be law enforcement certified. Responsibilities include managing a caseload appropriate for a supervisory position, providing guidance and leadership to the division, and overseeing subordinate investigators. Duties involve making hiring recommendations, determining workloads, delegating assignments, conducting training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions as necessary.

Examples of tasks:

• Develops, directs, and evaluates programs related to Medicaid fraud and patient abuse investigations.
• Supervises subordinate personnel, including assisting with hiring, determining workload, delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
• Manages a caseload of a size that allows time for supervisory duties and effective oversight.
• Directs investigations in collaboration with the Chief Investigator, determining appropriate methods and techniques for each case.
• Stands in for the Chief Investigator for time-sensitive tasks as needed.
• Assists the Chief Investigator with time-sensitive referrals, agent training, identifying investigative trends, developing standard operating procedures, and auditing cases.
• Provides oversight of MDT regions assigned to agents.
• Participates in the development and implementation of the Filevine software for case management.
• Serves on division Outreach and Intake Committees to support community engagement and intake processes.

Qualifications

• Must possess current law enforcement certification.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience investigating Medicaid fraud, patient abuse, neglect, or exploitation cases.
• Recognized expertise or advanced skill in investigative procedures and techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a supervisory-level caseload while providing guidance and leadership to a division.
• Experience overseeing and mentoring subordinate investigators.
• Proven skills in making hiring recommendations, assigning workloads, delegating tasks, conducting training, monitoring performance, and taking corrective or disciplinary actions as necessary.
• Strong understanding of program development and evaluation within a Medicaid fraud and patient abuse context.
• Ability to collaborate with division leadership and participate in software implementation and committee work.
