Join our collaborative team as a Metrology/I&C tech II at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where you'll contribute to global healthcare and scientific advancement. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring compliance, quality, and operational excellence across our facilities through comprehensive metrology and Instrumentation activities. Working with advanced technologies and diverse teams, you'll help maintain high standards in pharmaceutical manufacturing, laboratory operations, and quality control. This position is a hybrid Metrology Tech/I&C Tech where primary responsibility will be to complete scheduled monthly and on-demand calibrations.
• Performs calibration and metrology activities and services to assure that required process, laboratories, utilities and facilities equipment calibrations are performed in compliance with NIST, cGMP regulations, company policies and procedures and meet Federal and local governmental regulation (e.g. FDA, EQB, OSHA, etc.).
• Utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System {CMMS) to document calibration activities
• Gown qualification for support of cleanroom activities • Identify any areas where non-compliance or non-harmonization is occurring
• Helps drive continuous improvements
• Participate in deviation investigations and supports change control assessments and reviewing/approving change control implementation plans
• Builds and maintains relationships with other VVS sites to develop and promote metrological best practices and ensures compliance with Thermo Fisher {PSG/VVS) SOP's, safe work practices, and cGMP regulations.
• The position involves close collaboration with Manufacturing, Manufacturing Sciences, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and other Engineering teams
• Maintain instruments and equipment in both a preventative and reactive manner and will be part of an on-call rotation.
• Troubleshooting of complex processing equipment
REQUIREMENTS:
• BS degree with 1 year of experience, or an Associate degree or relevant certification with 3 years of experience, or a high school diploma in lieu of a degree with 5 years of experience.
• Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering, Life Sciences, Chemistry, or related technical field
• Valid driver's license with ability to travel up to 5% as needed
• Comprehensive knowledge of cGMP, FDA regulations, and industry standards (ISO, GAMP5).
Ability to troubleshoot complex control systems.
• Strong technical writing skills for calibration documentation
• Experience managing small projects independently
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving capabilities
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Knowledge of calibration and metrology principles
• Experience with automation systems and computer system validation
• Ability to work in cleanroom environments when required
• Effective interpersonal skills for team collaboration
• Ability to manage multiple projects
• Experience with quality management systems and documentation
• Consistent record of completing projects on schedule in a deadline-oriented environment
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $60,000.00–$90,000.00.
