What to Expect

The Metrology Technician is a critical member of the Cell Manufacturing Quality Operations team at Giga Texas. This role is responsible for the calibration, maintenance, repair, and operation of precision measurement and metrology equipment used to support production quality across Assembly, Electrode, and Tabless departments. Technicians in this role operate across a defined skill leveling framework and are expected to grow their technical expertise, project ownership, and cross-functional collaboration over time.

Shift: 05:30AM-05:30PM or 05:30PM-05:30AM (optional)

Week 1: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday (optional)

What You’ll Do

  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain precision metrology equipment (CMMs, Keyence, testers, balances, XRF, Zygo, gages, micrometers, and related tools)
  • Develop CMM programs; calibrate gages, torque tools, load cells, and hand tools; maintain traceability and records; apply uncertainty analysis, Gage R&R, and SPC
  • Troubleshoot, PM, and repair metrology and IPQC/IQC instruments, including testers, balances, HeLeak, Keyence, XRF, and Zygo systems
  • Design and 3D-print fixtures and custom tooling; manage spare parts and repair-vs-replace decisions
  • Own quality documentation in Acugage: SOPs, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and Reaction Plans; lead audits and Area Assessments; support ISO 17025, ISO 9001, and IATF 16949
  • Lead cross-functional projects and RCA/8D; apply DMAIC, Six Sigma, and Lean; justify and qualify capital equipment; own the metrology technology roadmap
  • Follow PPE, LOTO, 5S, and hazardous-material procedures; conduct safety inspections, investigations, and risk assessments; partner with EHS on compliance

What You’ll Bring

  • Basic to advanced understanding of weights, force, pressure, dimensions, and temperature measurement
  • Familiarity with measurement units, tolerances, and calibration principles
  • Ability to comprehend technical documentation, blueprints, and GD&T fundamentals
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Metrology, Production, Quality, and Engineering teams
  • Ability to follow established SOPs, checklists, and safety requirements
