Job Description

About our group:

Our Metrology Group serves as the measurement and analytical backbone of the factory, ensuring product quality and strict compliance with specifications across all manufacturing stages. The team provides reliable metrology solutions for critical product parameters, supporting incoming, in-process, and outgoing control, as well as continuous improvement and qualification activities. It plays a key role in enabling new product introductions by ensuring metrology tool readiness and benchmarking supplier capabilities. Leveraging data-driven insights, the team supports engineering decisions and qualification processes while maintaining robust factory-wide calibration and radiation programs to uphold measurement integrity and operational excellence.

About the role - you will:

  • Perform precision measurement and inspection of substrate components such as ID/OD, thickness, flatness, surface properties across incoming, in‑process, and outgoing stages to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Operate and maintain advanced metrology equipment e.g., Zygo, KLA-Tencor, AFM, XRF, etc including setup, verification, calibration support, and troubleshooting.
  • Analyze measurement data to identify process variation and drift, and deliver accurate reports to support engineering decisions and quality control.
  • Collaborate with process, equipment, quality, and supplier teams to drive process optimization and qualification activities.
  • Ensure measurement system reliability and readiness, including calibration, correlation studies, and risk mitigation (e.g., tool downtime, capacity gaps, redundancy planning).
  • Ensure compliance to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and Atom Malaysia

About you:

  • Good analytical thinking and attention to detail when interpreting measurement data and identifying abnormalities
  • Discipline in following procedures, standards, and measurement methodologies to ensure data integrity
  • Proactive mindset in identifying issues, proposing improvements, and supporting problem-solving activities
  • Effective teamwork and collaboration with process, equipment, quality, and supplier teams across manufacturing stages
  • Clear communication when presenting technical findings, measurement results, and recommendations
  • High level of ownership and accountability for measurement accuracy, equipment readiness, and deliverables
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related disciplines
  • Candidates with 1 to 3 years in a relevant manufacturing or metrology environment are preferred
  • Fresh graduates with strong academic foundation, hands-on project work, or internship exposure in precision measurement, quality, or manufacturing processes are encouraged to apply

Your experience includes:

  • Demonstrated hands-on capability in precision measurement and inspection, covering dimensional parameters (ID/OD, concentricity), geometric characteristics (flatness, roundness), and surface analysis (roughness, waviness) across various manufacturing stages
  • Proficiency in operating advanced metrology equipment, including optical measurement systems, stylus profilers, AFM, and similar analytical tools to support quality control and product verification
  • Data analysis and reporting efficiency, with the ability to interpret measurement results, identify trends or anomalies, and support process monitoring and engineering decisions
  • Contribute actively to process improvement initiatives, including yield enhancement efforts, validation of process changes, and participation in engineering trials such as DOE and qualification builds
  • Solid understanding of quality systems and structured methodologies, including calibration, measurement system analysis (MSA), traceability, and audit requirements within a manufacturing environment
  • Effective collaborator in cross-functional settings, working closely with process engineering, equipment, quality, and supplier teams to support production and qualification activities
